Family Aliens Costumes - Ripley, Newt, Hicks & Hudson

Re: Family Aliens Costumes - Ripley, Newt, Hicks & Hudson

I used doubled over thick cotton batting and covered it with black out curtain fabric. It was cheaper than pleather and matched the matte sheen of the shoes better.

I actually just printed it off from a vector image I found online and mod podged it onto the shoe. Not 100% accurate (since it's not fabric/thread) but looks good for photos!

I got the pants on ebay - they're actually capris (for some reason that's all I kept coming across in that color/style!) so I let the hem out and got them JUST long enough to stuff inside the shoes. The brand was Xhilaration "light blue cargo pants"

File I used for the logo on the tongues

HUUUUUUGE thanks for your answer! This is all super, and I'm definitely crediting you in my build thread. And two more questions before I let you go:

How did you attach the fabricated high top (made from cotton batting and black out curtain) onto the original shoe? Did you hot glue it together or sewn?
What was the hardest part in making the shoes?

I used E6000 glue and binder clips to hold it in place until the glue dried. I then used a super sharp needle and reinforced it in a few key areas with a couple of stiches just to make sure it would be secure. I sewed the tongues in where the old tongues had been and didn't use any glue there.

Getting the sizes right I think! Since I had to make the pattern myself I actually made it with newspaper first so it was easier to cut and had to make a few different patterns until I was happy with the way it looked/fit together.
