Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

However, Fett remained alive, using his jetpack and weapons some while later, blasted himself out, becoming one of the only beings ever known to escape from a sarlacc's belly alive. While studying a holographic recording recovered from Fett's helmet camera, Senior Anthropologist Mammon Hoole discovered an unsettling revelation: the beast apparently possessed the ability to telepathically torture its prey. In this recording, Fett appeared to be reacting to stimuli that did not exist, suggesting that sarlacc were capable not only of communication, but apparently of malevolence, feeding off of the fears of their prisoners.

Direct quote from wookiepedia :p I also read a comic where he escaped via the "poo" hole :p Still nice painting and effect you realized. I like it!

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

Very well executed.
The technique has produced great results.
but, the RF is ESB.
LOL

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

Awesome helmet, I'd snap the rangefinder off too as if it caught on something. :)

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

Oh bugger, theres allways something, lol, i suppose i could snap off the range finder, what are the differences?, anything i can fix

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

HA! I was going to suggest the range finder being snapped off as well. Only other thing I could think of are some broken and maybe pitted and rounded off pieces of broken glass or plastic in the corners of the T-visor. If it's transparent steel or transparasteel like they say there should be some of it left in there. Might look cool.

great piece! I love the concept you got going here.

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

Most of you are thinking in-universe. The Sarlaac pit is a great explanation. I've always loved the re-imagined weapons and gear like steam punk, or early eras. I couldn't help thinking Gladiator/300 helmet when I saw it. I thought it would be cool to have one with that finish that was just a little more ancient styled and perhaps a miniature standard bearing stalk on the side instead of the range finder.

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

Now thats using the old noggin!!!!

Taking something that went wrong, and instead of binning the helm, making it into something awesome.

Well done frosty, looks a cracker - would suggest a little more brown / red tones to suggest more corrosion??

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

thanks, i will be doing some spot washes here and there around the damaged area's, i might even take it to the beach to get some shots in the dunes :)

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

Cool concept. I think adding splashes of the accurate colors for the accurate areas to just give a hint of them on the finished piece would go a long way, as the uniformness seems a bit distracting. However... in the last picture you can sorta make out the green on the dome part and the reddish ocher on the mandibles... which is sorta what I'm getting at... though... I don't think it would hurt to lightly use the right colors on selected areas to indicate it was once painted.

Always nice to see something creative.

Yes you must do that, would look incredible

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

never knew that, is that right?
I got one of bobamakers visors, shame to rough it up but i had to make it match the helmet

did some more washes of colour here and there, still tweaking

starting work on the shoulders soon for the rest of the display, i know its not an accurate helmet, but i'm pretty pleased with how its turning out

Re: Fett helmet, a bit different than the norm

took a trip out to the beach today, took a couple of shots

We have an art instalation at the beach, 'anthony gormleys another place' a series of iron statues of the artist facing out to sea, basically he lifecast himself.
Well i felt it needed a star wars moment, i had to edit out his erm 'tackle' as no one on here wants to look at that, lol

Very nice! I like what you've done with the helmet since the first post, the extra bits of color and the trashed visor really help sell it. Now it looks much more like it was once sitting in the belly of the Sarlac as opposed to a rough bronze cast of Boba's helmet.

Next you need to create a matching set of armor and you can go to cons as Boba right after he came out of the Sarlac. :D I bet you'd get a lot of attention dressed like that, I think that people would flock to you to take pictures of you.

wheres the mention that dengar took him out and nursed him back to health? i remember that being a major part of them being partners.

in the old star wars comics from marvel, the sarlaac burped out fett and he was rescued by jawas who mistook him for a droid. hasbro did a comic two pack with a reprint of the comic and a repainted figure that had mucus stains on him.

great idea!!! my only critique would be that the visor/lens should possibly have some areas missing and it might look cool to somehow simulate some old dried mucus or something... but it looks superb as is!!!
(oh yeah, and ditch the range finder, it's way too weak to withstand all that stomache acid :cool )
