I am going to do the base. Not the floor standing tripod though...just a pivot point that would be mounted on the Hydra.

I'd like to make the ammo box too, but we'll see.

This is the underside, where the base will be mounted to. I'm going to weld up the tubular metalwork and square base in steel and bolt it to an aluminium pivot that will attach to the gun with steel threaded rod..

Here's a shot of the gun tied in with some fresh primer...

The ammo pattern will be pretty easy to make. I'll make 2 links, mould them, cast them in resin until I have enough for a decent length. Then I'll join them, remould and cast in a dense, self-skinning black rubber.

Im not of fan of Avatar but any weapons by Weta are so amazing looking. I actually own the D9 assault rifle.

And you are doing such a great job so far and I cant wait for more updates. I love this gun design, so unique.

I'm getting my paints mixed on Monday...I'll go for something close to Pantone 5405 for the blue. I've also just bought the steel and aluminium to make the pivotal fixture that you see on the Valkyrie.

Getoninja...I agree. I enjoyed Avatar the first time I watched it, now I can't sit through it at all. Weta, though.....they are the Hustler of Gun porn. :lol Their D9 designs are my favourite by far.

weeslehammer, I use either Halfords primer (which you won't get in the US) or HyCote (which you might).

If you're man enough you can still hold the gun in the 'traditional' way. I'm not sure you'd enjoy the recoil though...

I've not had a chance to do any making, but I've been working on my working drawings for the flip screen...nothing too fancy. I'll do most of the making from reference shots...I just need to make sure it'll fit what I've already done.

tango'd fett, I get that a lot.

I still haven't received my grooved styrene to make the rear grips, but I went ahead and painted the gun anyway. I'll have to deal with the grips and triggers later. I've taken on too many jobs and some real life work has arrived, so this will be on hold for a while. Anyhow, I gave the gun an aluminium base coat, latex masked the scratches and have just applied the Pantone 5405 top coat.

I'll leave the final black wash and weathering until the gun is finished. That'll really help to tie it all together...at the moment it still looks toyish. I'll make the black parts look more metallic then too.

I just realised that I need to paint the rocker switches black also.

I've drawn up the logo and the 'release' graphics for the dry transfers. These will need to go on and be sealed before I dirty the gun down.

...but can't quite work out what I need for the inside of the flip screen yet.
