Firefly / Serenity Mal's Gun showoff thread

OK, since I don't have anything more advanced than an iPhone 3GS and a lamp, I kinda had to wait until I had decent(ish) lighting conditions to take pics.

So with that in mind, don't judge the pics too harshly. :unsure

Looks mighty familiar Goodwolf. ;)

Have you done any additional weathering since you got it?

Nah... other than the now famous "Bwaaaaah" method of drawing down on myself in a mirror occasionally.

It would be difficult to improve on your work. :thumbsup

Is anyone still selling these around here? Any ideas where a guy could find one besides the bay?

dr_slurpee: What did you use to seal the finish after weathering? I left mine pristine, but I'm getting a hankering to do a little wear 'n' tear!

As soon as I can get a drill that works, I'll put the wood grips on my Sidkit, though my plastic grips were pretty popular.

Renaissance Wax, it's terrific stuff, great for protecting pretty much anything.

Mine is just the QMX stunt pistol replica but I like it but if they ever make a metal one I'll jump on it. Case made by KODOFETT CASES.

I finished my Mal's pistol kit this afternoon.

I replaced the resin "thumbscrews" with a pair from a dead computer
tower. I tried the "buff and rub" technique, but the results weren't
dramatic enough for me, so I got out my flat black enamel and used
drybrushing until I got the effect that I wanted. Then I clearcoated
everything with satin clear. Color of the metal pieces is a metallic
bronze, that changes tones depending on the intensity of the light
(no flash photography or eveything glares out).

Here's my first attempt at the pistol. Definitely going to redo this someday. So many details about it are wrong.

Hey gang, I stripped the M3 screw that goes on the grip and I can't find one ANYWHERE. Went to Sears Hardware, Lowes, and Home Depot with no luck. Smallest they carry is M4.

Any ideas or anyone with an extra I could buy?

DB, I'll take a look and see what I have, but I am not sure I have any left. I'd say Ebay might be the best bet for cheap ones if all else fails.

Mine are strictly decorative. When added the wood grips, the screws were not securing the grips to my satisfaction. So I used epoxy to attach the grips, snipped off the thread section of the screw and glued the heads into the holes on the grip.
