For those looking for Studio Scale Acrylic Cases

Got my case today. I like it. Should of made it about one inch taller, but it is nice and will keep the dust off. They did a nice job with it and it only took about 1 week to get it. Here are some pics:

My Enterprise case will be here Monday. I'll take some pics once I get it all set up.

Sweet.

I went to Lowes this weekend and looked at acrylic sheets. The biggest 1/4" they had was 24x36", which if the case is 14" tall meant I'd have to buy one sheet for everyside. At 36 bucks a pop I decided I'd check another Lowes this weekend. If they don't have any in store that are bigger they're going to order me the next size up which would allow for two sides out of one sheet. I should be able to make the case for around 120. I highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't wnat to spend 300. It's really not that hard to do.

RAD, that is a nice looking case. Thanks for posting your pictures.
A couple of questions:
What was the shipping cost like?
What dimensions and other information did you give them?
I think you have sold me on their case.

Thanks found the info.

Do you have a straight on shot?

What would you guess the clearance is side to side in the case?

Thanks,
BrianM

There's about an inch on each side. Maybe about an inch and half on the ends and almost an inch on the top actually. I think the dimensions are good, but I should of made it about one inch taller.

For those in or near Baltimore MD:

SeaJay Plastics - 410-437-3926

They are in the middle of moving their shop, and as of March 1st, their new number will be: 410-388-2330

I just contracted them for a case lid made from 1/4" clear acrylic, 25 3/4" x 35 7/16" x 15" high. She said they will roll the top to match the MR cases (I will report back on how it looks), and it will be ready in about 3 weeks (delay due to their moving shop).

Total price? $162.50

Since they're local, I'll even save on shipping - just have to drive to the shop to get it. They said they will ship on a case by case basis, as well. Might be a good alternative for those on the east coast.

Couldn't you shorten the stand 'peg' to lower the ship down?

Hmm I need to go to Baltimore next month. You might have just saved me a lot of work. Do you live in MD? I'm stuck out here in Garrett county. Thanks,
John

I think they are on to us. I got a quote of $176 plus $41 shipping. I added one inch of height to Rad1701's case dimensions. I asked for a thicker base which he said would be 3/8th.

I wanted to run power to it and hope that the thicker base would let me put a thin channel for cable or a hole under the location of the power jack.

That quote sounds very close to mine Refit. A bit more due to the added height. Oh, and if you thought the Enterprise came in a big package, wait until they ship you the case. Mine case was packed very well.

Sidewinder - I'm not going to do anything to the peg or the stand. It has a spring and phono plug for the power built-in. Honestly, I kind of like the tight fit. It also lets you see the top of the ship better. Once I get the power cable run inside, I'll shoot some more pics with the ship lit up inside the case.

I'm looking at getting a case too, but was wondering if someone could post pics of the power supply and cableing. It may already be posted here or on another thread. If so, could someone send me a link.

Does SeaJay Plastics have a website? I live on the East Coast too (Southwest Viginia).

The power supply is a simple AC adapter with a miniplug on the end that pops into the stand. Pretty much the same type as any cell phone charger.

Thanks. A little dusty still ;)

Look at post #28, above....
