Gambit X-men

Okay, I don't like making threads unless I got a good bit to show for it. So as this costume is JUUUST about to cross the finish line, I figured it was time. I have done a few versions of gambit so far, but none I was ever happy with.

I even tried doing the armored collar and knees back when I was a newbie with foam, and those didn't turn out too well either:

So this year I really wanted to up my costume since I have just wrapped up Batman. I found Xtreme Design FX's gambit stuff through a few people here and knew this would be perfect. A month after ordering and viola: 10479967_10154600490010105_5870646264543182794_n.jpg
That great Gambit look was acheived. After getting the chest glued down and the head piece to fit my small little pin head, it really started to come together:

Next up were the boots. I tried to find Silver boots that I could mod but they apparently don't exist for guys! I had just started learning how to use an air brush so I figured this was as good a time as any to learn on it!

Not too bad for my first job, flexible and doesnt stick and crack like rattle can paint!

Finally, I wanted to do what all Gambit cosplayers want, the eyes. I had been avoiding this part as it costs around 400 (300 for the eyes, 100 for the perscription) which is a lot of money to sink for a pair of contacts. Well, I bit the bullet and made the purchase last month, yesterday they finally came in.

I've never worn sclera contacts before, but they aren't as bad as I thought they would be.
Finally after getting everthing on, I have the costume JUST about where I want it to be.

I still think theres more work. I gotta figure out a way to do the belt, and any tips on that would be very helpful.
So thoughts? Opinions? Is the coat too dark of a green? Let me know, I really want this costume to pop.

Depends on which belt you are talking about. If it is this one:

Then I would just check out army surplus websites for different combat/utility belts.

But I'm guessing you are leaning more towards the "classic" look:

The belt is an odd shape, since it follows that uneven bottom line of the torso. What you could do is build a silver "belt" onto the bottom of the torso piece, which would actually be purely decorative. I recommend some cylindrical foam tubing, cutting it in half, sealing it, then painting it. Or a thin cardboard tube, or really any other material you can find that could be cut and painted to preference. Then, where the belt ends (i.e. the edge of the prosthetic torso), purchase a couple feet of nylon strapping, with a suitable way to attach it at both ends of the torso such that it wraps taut around you but can be removed for easy dressing/undressing.

As for the coat color, it is hard to say because of the light in your pictures combined with the paint color of the hall way. If you can get a couple pics of you outside, in natural light, the true color of the coat might be more obvious.

It seems like it's less of a belt and more light some flashing. You could use that tube or make something from hobby foam. Try painting that with a mix of elmers glue and water (1:1 ratio) and painting that on, it should fill in the holes and allow you to paint the foam.

Your costume if phenomenal! Gambit was one of the first costumes I attempted when I was a kid, nice to see someone do it justice!
