Golden Time Travel Sphere from 'Dark' [First Full Print Done; UPDATED 11/AUG/2020]

Wow, much appreciated!!

EDIT: After seeing these in 4k, I'm now noticing the tiny tick marks around the small cylinders aren't present on all of them. I now need to go back and redo them.

I finished the designs of the 2 large cylinders and 4 of the 5 small cylinders; Out of every scene and sceenshot with the physical prop, they NEVER show #5 (as far as I have seen). The only time you see it on screen is in the season 2 finale, where is was all CGI and used the fx reel model. They must have switched to the more detailed prop for season 3. I'm probably just going to have to go with the fx reel design for that one.

Amazing work on these. When I get home from work I will scrub through S03 to see if I missed any other good shots of the Orb.

I like that the large design on the left kind of looks like the Emperor's window from ROTJ.

Working on getting everything sized up in Rhino, then importing into Fusion. I'm debating on having the black boxes sticking out or not. They will freely spin either way, though.

Excellent job, congrats!

Do you expect to design a functional orb (no time travel related ;))? I mean, to be able to be rotated and so on?
The only one I'm really concerned about is the particle chamber. It's the longest of all of them, and appears to pass through the center. Won't know for sure until I get that far in the modeling.

My current ideal order of 'functionality' is:

1. Cylinders
2. Particle Chamber
3. Orb Rotating.

If all else fails, my secondary is option is to make a static orb that rotates; no cylinders or particle chamber. I might make both versions, who knows.

That's looking amazing!!

Edit: I think static with a functional fuel chamber could be a good option for a final design. Is there enough interior clearance for the tumblers?

Good question, I haven't gotten that far yet. Still need to model the fuel chamber and the large cylinder. Then I'll be able to see where everything fits.

You've nailed that Orb, such a fantastic job.
I wish I could say I had got beyond modelling the two halves and the cut out holes but that is as far as I've got due to other projects keeping me busy.
Looking forward to see you finish this off and have a physical orb in hand.

Thank you! It's been quite the endeavor so far. Fusion360 is a different beast than Rhino, that's for sure.

This is looking very very accurate. Congrats.

I think that the best option is, as egosheep said, a static version with functional fuel chamber (if it fits, and if there is any posibility to fisically assemble it all together)

I definitelly keep following this post ;)
