Green Goblin Costume!

Hi! I'm Collin, and this is my first time making a costume of this caliber! This is my attempt at The Green Goblin! It's going to be an Alex Ross mask with the ThunderBolts costume design.

I've started on the sculpt of the mask, and I have a big question. Am I doing it right?!?
I couldn't mold it exactly to my face but I used the ol' plastic bag and duct tape trick to get a rough idea of my head.

So, will this work? I would love to get some advice on how to get the clay smoother. But, I also would like to hear your opinions! Do you think his cheeks are too defined? Do you think I'm still on track with the Alex Ross version? Let me know!

Also, does anyone know how I can do the bubble/bugeyed lens?

So what do you guys think so far? Please leave a comment, and thank you for your time! :D

So, it's been a few days! Here is my progress so far. I can't find the bubble lens for the Alex Ross look, so I'm going to have to use regular lenses. I specifically went out to find the cheapest shades at my local CVS (don't judge), and grabbed a pair of HD sunglasses (FYI they do not give you HD vision)
As I sculpted around the shades I decided I won't be able to get a good Alex Ross mask from this :cry
But, Instead I'm going to try and make it my own while still holding to the Alex Ross style. (oh, boy :facepalm )

I'm thinking I'm almost done with the face, (Please let me know your opinions!)
So I'm going to start on the ears next, funny thing is though... I forgot where the ears are located on the Duct tape cast... SO what i'm going to do is make the ears separately, and cast them separately. This may even work better since the ears are as tall as the face, which will allow me to add support to them without putting the rest of the mask at risk. And separating the mask from the mold will be 100x easier without giant flimsy ears to worry about. :confused

Thank You for your time, and please leave any tips you may have for me to make this a success! :wacko

A few questions: What kind of clay are you using? What material do you plan on casting the piece out of?

I think you are getting close but you're missing a lot of the smile/frown lines that are going to make this look more 3 dimensional and dynamic. Look at the Ross picture at the corners of the mouth and the forehead. Those areas show a LOT of emotion due to wrinkling and lines...and without adding in that dimension into your mask it's going to look a little flat and give your Goblin a kind of neutral expression.

I think it looks great, overall, however I have one constructive comment/criticism... to me, a very large part of this iconic goblin look is that huge, evil, toothy grin. You have sculpted this face with a closed mouth, and I think you lose a lot of emotion that way. Not sure if that is TOO big of a change, but my suggestion is to try and include that iconic, toothy, evil grin.
