Hasbro Hero Millennium Falcon Modification

Yeah the 2 cut-outs on the starboard side of the Falcon aren't right,.....the triangular shaped one at the back is sort of based on the 5 foot....the hexagonal one near the cockpit tube is just totally made up, the triangular one on the portside is dead on but I just added a bit more detail to it, so it went back in

Sorry SB,...the round ones I made from the Revell TIE which works out at 6 ribs, like the 5 footer:

Your suggestion to use the Ertl TIE, worked out OK,....I mixed some resin for doing some casting,,,,,,when It was almost off I dropped a dollop onto the ertl TIE wing that I'd sprayed with silicone spray,....after it had hardened it popped off and had made a good negative cast of the ertl pattern

So I'm going to mould a copy of the 8 & the six with the detail ring around it

Can you tell me what you used for the detail rings?

At the minute its just a ring made out of thin plasticard,....I'm gonna use small pieces of card to detail it back (& possibly more than) the ring I cut away from the original:)

John,
Is the part in the pic also the Tiger tank airfix kit?

Thanks.

No CW, that one is what was on the toy/model,....I cut it out to get an overhang with the panels & I expanded the details of the part so that it looks like it continues on inside

Hey guys. Long time lurker here on the RPF. I Just want to say that everything that goes on here is amazing.

I have been follwoing this thread and I just came across this article today on gizmodo. Its about a kind of glue. Its a liquid plastic that hardens when exposed to UV light.

I figured it may be useful for this project as well as others where traditional glues may not work. Check out the link.

Nice work on the vents. Looks like i have to get an ERTL TIE and learn how to use resin.

I'm sure someone will be offering castings soon.

Sure hope so. I had visions while buying this in Argos (after reading this thread) that within a few days i'd finally have a Falcon on par with the MR which i've lusted over for years................i've got a big pile of plastic in bits at present looking like a child took a hammer to it.:facepalm

There is a large resin kit on the way that will have everything from shapeways except the cockpit. That needs to be ordered from shapeways. The guys doing it rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever the cost I'm throwing in $5 extra for a Starbucks.

I'm not sure but I thought someone was working on offering a set of vents and possibly some other parts near the vents.

Also I am assuming someone is working on a lighting kit but have not heard anything yet.

It's all starting to blend but it's gonna be a lot of fun :)

John

If someone wanted to do a cast set of all these I'm sure they could make a few bucks :)

Thanks for the info, are the Shapeways parts for the version of the Falcon in this thread or the other one with all the compartments etc?

.....sorry to hyjack the thread.

I can cast the vents, no problem....although there are PE sets coming from Johnny Crash

....the same goes for any of the other areas I've replaced

Shapeways has them for this Falcon under Millennium HSBRO, but most of those parts are being cast up by the members who made them as a resin set which will be much cheaper. The only thing on Shapeways that won't be offered in resin is the cockpit set due to the need for small holes for lighting.
