HCG Korben Blaster - it's here! (Photos/Review)

I ordered direct from the company.

I tested the electronics, all are fine. There's no obvious body seam but I'm sure someone will eventually dismantle one. It would be a not too far fetched project to replace some of the silver colored resin with machined aluminum and replace the red LED with a small laser pointer.

The split appears to be where the lower half goes up into the top half, it looks like the muzzle piece has something to do with it as well.

I see you have an AIM version too.

This thing is SCREAMING for a couple of metal upgrades. The easy ones (from a machining standpoint) would be the muzzle, the tapered rod on top and the two discs.

My thoughts exactly.

I'd also like to add the LED to the back of the slide just to the right of the tapered rod. And the charging sound would be cool too!

What's the history of the AIM version? Mine is the one with no disc on the other side. Does A-I-M stand for anything? I got mine used so I don't have any history on it, but it does have a killer paint job. It may be automotive paint (the black areas) .

You mean this square red thing?

That's a DIP switch and I assume it was used to turn the LED's on the hero gun on/off.

AIM was Alberta Industrial Models; a company specializing in models of refineries, construction equipment - anything "industrial". There was a small "division" (so to speak) where one of the guys did resin prop replicas, mostly weapons. The quality and service was top notch, but this "division" is no longer functional.

The gun you have Gary, was sculpted and scratched by Dean Dymerski with little but a single shot of one side of the original. This was well before much of the more recent reference came out, and far enough back that even screen-grabs were not as easy to get or prevalent. DD forwarded the master (I believe) to AIM for molding, casting, and sales.

Well got mine today number 48

Shipping was a joke 3 days from the US to Canada it was in Richmond BC, then 6 days to me in Whistler. Richmond to Whistler is like a 4 hour drive away.

Well I have it and love it the ever growing 5E collection

Yeah, that's it. But for some reason I thought it lit up. I'll have to check my old screen grabs. Could have been a reflection of light though.

Trivial I know, but in case anybody else was wondering what happens when the count reaches zero, as in does it stop or does it loop round to 999..?

It stops at 000. :)

According to the e-mail I received, mine is shipping via USPS. But I'm in Tokyo; maybe the method differs for international shipments.
