What is that part that you are you using for the grip section? And on the older one, what was used there? I need to fabricate something similar, but not necessarily identical, and am looking for a good raw material.
The forward grip is washing machine drain hose. The old (smaller) version is one of those corrugated plastic toys that you swing around to make a whirring noise.
It bugged me that the windvane was a little too big so I changed it out, but I'm not sure this is any better. Maybe the flange is too small? I may end up changing it again.
I replaced the flange on the windvane, and it does look much better. The neck is now shorter, reducing the overall length of the saber, but it looks more in proportion to the shorter forward grip.
Decided to scrap the card holder(?). Instead of the one piece solution I'd used, which was far from ideal, I'm just going to build one up from sheet plastic.
