How to modify wig into having receding hair-line, as the Joker on TDK

Hello there,

for my Joker costume I needed a wig. Since I needed a wig that could have somewhat of a receding hair-line, I wanted to be clever and purchased a lace-front wig. Now the wig arrived and the lace-front isn't as long as I had hoped (maybe just 1 cm if not less).. I was thinking about methods how to achieve the look I want with it anyway..

I was thinking about cutting out the shape I want (thus having to cut into the mesh) and then attach the wig to a bald-cap.. I could blend in the edges with some dips of latex and the hair of the pieces I cut out if needed..

Since I have no idea if the wig will totally fall apart if I cut into the mesh I first wanted to ask here.

If you have any other ideas I'd be happy to hear them.. Also if you have tips for me on how to trim the wig, especially how to best thin it out, I'd be very grateful!

hmmm not some bad ideas there. I'm also now thinking about doing a joker costume and didnt even consider this...

What wig did you pickup?

Thank you for the hint!

It sounds like a good alternative but since I live in Germany this is currently not an option for me since the shop doesn't ship internationally, and the partner shop that has takes too long on shipping..

Shop around and see if they have skin tops. If you need to ask, ASK the seller/vendor to provide pics of the actual product with the wig flipped inside out. The skin top should be able to cover the entirety of your top scalp.

Many wigs only have a skin top that is about 3" in diameter and you would need bigger.

Ok, I'll keep an eye open..

When worse comes to worse, what about my idea of cutting into the mesh and glueing the wig on a bald cap and blend in the seams with latex and hair? Will the wig loose its sturdiness and fall apart?

The lace is what holds the fibers, and lace itself is already flexible. Latex glue to a bald cap is a good idea, but I would also look into buying extensions in the same color as your wig, to punch the fibers into the bald cap as well.

Most wigs are only "topical" with enough fiber to cover, but when you need to cover up "holes", then you need more fiber.

Just wanted to up this to let people know it can be done, with enough patience. You'll need a pretty thick bald cap though, don't know if Glatzan caps work too..
