Finally a pic of the compass dial (nothing aged yet in this pic). The compass rose is made of wood and inlayed in mother of pearl. The wood will be bleached to make it look ancient like the original.
I was kinda obsessed making this with natural materials and unfortunately making the rose mother of pearl with the fine details was just not feasible. I am happy with the result, but fully understand this is rather history accurate than fully screen accurate.
Now is the time for a payment if you want to be in the first batch of about 10, which I will probably finish next weekend. Please message me if you are convinced already. Price is still 200€ and I will fix shipping to the US at 30€ (or us$250 total, whichever turns out lower for you. PayPal Family & Friends would be much appreciated, but I fear it just moves the conversion fees to the buyer).
I will contact all others on the list once I have a final specimen ready.
Please tell me if this is not close enough for your taste. I might eventually make a dial with acrylic mother of pearl later, which would look pretty close but would rather be cheating with the approach I took.
