Indiana Jones inaccuracies. Add to the list.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen something like "Indiana Jones and the Blackbird of Malta" but for whatever reason, the adventures have to be awkward after Raiders.

There is so much weird stuff to be explored, it is astonishing that almost everything amazing was missed for these stories.

That's not what I read. There was a mention of disease and boils but nothing about sand or proton pack blasts.

I don't think sir Steven or GL read much of the original text before directing the film either. Even Demille didn't quite get it right.

As so many here have indicated indirectly: always study the source material to avoid stupid mistakes.

I think He should dedicate one show entirely to recovering the crown jewels from the Tower of London and placing them in the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo.

Am i the only one who feels that "the search for Excalibur" who have been an awesome idea?
Does Indy scuba dive?

No. You are not alone. We could probably start an entire new thread about all the things IJ and the could (should?) have included.

-Irish Crown Jewels
-The Blackbird (as I mentioned previously)
-Shambala
Etc etc etc

How about Warehouse 13 starring Harrison Ford?

Indiana Jones seems like such a missed opportunity after all these years.

Maybe if Sir Steven had been taped down in a chair and forced to watch the history channel for a week, he would have come up with several interesting films for IJ.

Oh well, we'll never know now.

Umm . . . the History Channel is probably where 'Crystal Skull' came from.

Wait a minute.

Jones actually led Toht to the headpiece. So, if it weren't for Jones, the bad guys likely wouldn't have found it in the first place. So he indirectly DID lead to the demise of Toht, Belloch and that other guy.

"Dr. Jones. Again we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away."

The Hovitos idol is basically a clue as to this. Jones does the real work, Belloq follows him and uses his allies to steal Jones' finds. He's obviously done this many times before, just as with the Hovitos idol.

I always assumed the nazis got there because Belloq told them where to go. Belloq knew about Jones' past with Marion.

Those weapons didn't exist that early yet.
Neither did those Afrika Korps uniforms. Or for that matter many of the small arms and web gear they used...

It's not hard to guess how that ended up happening.

"So the bad guys in your movie are Nazis? No problem. We have plenty of WW2 gear in the prop warehouse."

But many of the props would have been surplus stuff that was left when the war ended. That stuff would date from 1944-45 more than the early years. That's almost a decade later than the 'Raiders' setting.

And in 1981 the cinema standards were sloppier in general. People didn't have home videos or hi-res TV screens or internet forums. Filmmakers played faster & looser with the details because they could afford to. Modern-grade accuracy contributes to high production costs.

The general public don't really care about historical accuracy. Just look at early mideaval films that have swords and armor from 300-400 years later and the opposing force wearing stuff from 300-400 years earlier or just rags and colors that no one really wore back then. You'd be surprised how brightly colored everything really was and very little black clothes and leather.
