That is a very special one. I never knew the real name of the maker, he just went by Anon on his Facebook page. He made very little quantities of this helmet. They are made of HDPE and the parts were made from the scans of the real SFS helmet. I had him finish this one for me as close as possible to the screen used as it is now days, with all the dings, chips and scratches. He did an amazing job. however the maker has gone missing and I havent seen any more of these. I believe he was from Australia ( I could be wrong)

thank you for the back story, I never heard of that and I think this is really the perfect look for me. It looks extremely realistic and the guy really did an amazing job. Congrats again for owning that and the rest of the collection (y)(and I'm very jealous of course!)

Found his page again. not sure if he still makes them, but worth a shot. Looks like his run was actually 30 helmets.

Does anyone know why RS doesn't pull a run of HDPE/PP kits? Maybe they don't want to devalue the helmets out there? I would kill for a couple kits.

The main reason I keep bringing this up...is in hopes that someone from RS reads this and considers a run.....wishful thinking I know

I always was a bit mad at RS with the HDPE helmets, on their last run, I asked if I could get an unpainted helmet and for what price as I wanted to paint it myself. They said, "sure, for the same price as the painted one"
what? why? they kind of lost me as a customer that day, i really don't understand the reasoning behind that.

How would you say the HDPE helmets compare to the chippers trying to replicate the look?
Visually there is not a big difference between the two. The ABS is a bit smoother in terms of the warts and bumps on the face plate. The biggest difference would be that the Chipper will have a permanent pattern of weathering. So whatever chips were masked and painted, are the only ones you will ever see ( which I'm sure is preferable for most collectors). With the PP ( HDPE) it really chips easily, and over time it will show more areas of the khaki underneath as the material doesn't hold paint very well ( its not as drastic as it sounds. As long as you don't bump the helmet too hard or too often, it will hold the paint pretty good.)

I would say if you are looking for a helmet to troop with, then the ABS would be perfect. The chipper option will just give you that accurate on screen ANH look. If you are just a collector looking to display and you are in to over the top accuracy, then the PP (HDPE) is the helmet you are looking for.

From what I understand the material is very problematic and hard to work with. So they have avoided additional runs of the PP/HDPE.

I do agree with you and I'm surprised they don't go for it with the demand there is for these helmets.

I had pretty much the same situation. I wanted to keep mine raw for display, but was told they were only being sold as finished helmets. Thought it was weird since i saw a few guys getting them raw in previos runs. Anyways I ended up just going for it finished.

I think RS has said before that khaki HDPE/PP in the right gauge was hard to get and the first run they had was when they bought out a suppliers entire stock.

Edit: First run, not last, sorry.

Spoke to the maker of the SFS HDPE and it looks like he had some parts left and he is selling them. Only has 4 kits and one pre assembled. These things are definitely worth getting. So if you were interested this might be your last chance to get one of these HDPE beauties. Here is the link to his page:
