I find myself looking at those pictures again... it's awesome.
I think I fell in love with the SFS Anon HDPE, I never heard of thise one before but i really love the one you have.
thank you for the back story, I never heard of that and I think this is really the perfect look for me. It looks extremely realistic and the guy really did an amazing job. Congrats again for owning that and the rest of the collection(and I'm very jealous of course!)
Visually there is not a big difference between the two. The ABS is a bit smoother in terms of the warts and bumps on the face plate. The biggest difference would be that the Chipper will have a permanent pattern of weathering. So whatever chips were masked and painted, are the only ones you will ever see ( which I'm sure is preferable for most collectors). With the PP ( HDPE) it really chips easily, and over time it will show more areas of the khaki underneath as the material doesn't hold paint very well ( its not as drastic as it sounds. As long as you don't bump the helmet too hard or too often, it will hold the paint pretty good.)How would you say the HDPE helmets compare to the chippers trying to replicate the look?
Does anyone know why RS doesn't pull a run of HDPE/PP kits? Maybe they don't want to devalue the helmets out there? I would kill for a couple kits.
The main reason I keep bringing this up...is in hopes that someone from RS reads this and considers a run.....wishful thinking I know
I always was a bit mad at RS with the HDPE helmets, on their last run, I asked if I could get an unpainted helmet and for what price as I wanted to paint it myself. They said, "sure, for the same price as the painted one"
what? why? they kind of lost me as a customer that day, i really don't understand the reasoning behind that.
God I hope they do another run!
Very impressive collection sir!
