Kurgan Helmet clean up and cast...

thats funny casue that what i had started doing before i came onto this one

Same here.

There were several species of Sabretooth cats, hard to tell which version the Kurgan version is based on without in depth research.
I'd say the prop guys just went with the basic Sabretooth Tiger.

The widening went well. Some of the new work looks a bit too clean... would be a good idea to study real skulls to see how "expansion grooves" look on those to mimic that on this one. You want it to look real, not fabricated, so the middle groove shouldn't be so wide and straight.

Really looking forward to seeing it with the new teeth.

In case these pics might help...

thank you and i have been looking at some skulls to help shape the head and add the skull lines and also its very smooth cause i had to pack in the clay and clean it up... before i add the details.

oh yah ill offer them up for sale and hopefully within the next few weeks so be ready, im gonna do an initial run of 10 complete helmets, to recoup costs and get a crap load of materials to make a stack. i am looking at the best hair to use and have actually started working on the chest piece... i want to do it in rubber but will make the first one in leather to see how it will be...

Wasn't Kurgan's helmet and armor bronze? I seem to remember his armor having a goldish bronze shimmer to it, including the helmet.

From what I remember the helmet had an aged bone look to it....

When your ready to offer this I'm definitly down for one of these, I'd also love to have the armor......great job so far

I found these online, and as you can see, the helmet and the armor match and have a bronze look to it.
It would make since that the helmet be made of metal and not bone, since a sword would slice right through bone.

He is immortal and has no need of protection...other than around his neck.
I say his armor is just for show and fear..

For what it's worth, I've always thought it was some type of aged bone as well.

Since he'll die when he loses his head, (immortal or not) I'm pretty sure he would want a metal helmet to prevent that!:p

The SU armor/helmet is Bronze "color". :thumbsup

Steve, dammit, boy! We had the same argument 3 years ago over cocktails! :lol:lol:lol

I finally gave in and conceeded that yes, it 'most likely' is bronze.
But it still looks like bone to me!

I don't care what it was made out of....all I know is if that bumped into me in a dark alley I'd crap myself....TWICE....lol
