So I saw it and had to have one. Ultimately I'll get one with electronics, or at least a sturdier build, but this was a fun day-long project. Bought a 3d printed kit off of etsy, it was of okay quality - the hinge situation was a little hinky - but it suited my purposes. Re-painted some of the odd colored pieces, swapped out the black printed pieces for some clear polycarbonate I had lying around and painted it black. I bought some wood grain contact paper off amazon and re-skinned the inserts. Pretty happy with the results!
The acrylic, and wood details really make it look nice, good job! I have struggled with the hinges on my design as well, what is accurate to the show would be quite weak if just 3d printed, I'm stuck between making it right or making reinforced but inaccurate for those that just want to print it.. I mean it is all good enough for a shelf display but I can't imagine it surviving a convention in cosplay hanging from a belt.
