lost past. models you made as kids.

I don’t post a lot but am on here every night. I have to say this is probably one of my favorite threads it brings back fun memories of my brother and I building kits. We used to weather Star Wars kits with the flame of a match! It was hold your breath and hope you didn’t hold there to long to melt it! We built tons of kits and not all came out best but every so often you would get that one kit that went together perfect and you got the paint just right. For me it was the AMT classic Enterprise and AMT A-wing. My brother was a natural everything he painted came out great and to this day still cranks out awesome work. I had to laugh reading through this thread I thought we were the only ones who brew up our Star Wars kits with firecrackers trying to get that perfect shot on our old VHS recorder!

I remember a 1/48 B-17 with an M-80 inside each engine sailing off our car port. I think only 1 went off before it hit the ground.

We also used to have naval battles in the creek that involved BB guns. Sometimes just rocks when we were out of BB's.

Beyond explosives, we also liked to use model glue to make car crash scenes. Squeeze it inside the passenger compartment, stick something in it like a piece of fire cracker fuse, light it and roll it sideways down a hill. Testors tube glue on plastic might as well have been napalm. Many little green army men died that way as well.

i do not have the original but i did find a re-issue with the right box. i was 8 or 9, i got it at Pamida! we stopped at the grocery store afterwards and i remember my parents saying dont open the box, you will lose parts but by the time they came out i had it put together flying around the back seat of our 67 Ford Galaxy 500. Great thread, great memories!! p-51.PNG
