Check it out... I removed the cheap plastic blade from the Hasbro Luke ROTJ Ultimate FX lightsaber and replaced it with a
24 inch (27 inches, in total) length of PEX pipe I bought last night at Home Depot ($3.64 w/ tax)
(The remainder of the 5 foot pipe is for my Sword Art Online II custom photon sword - which I will post in the "general" props area)
This looks much better and evens the light out a bit. I had removed all of the other diffusers, too except the one where the LED
strip is inside. I reinforced the area inside the hilt where the blade 'holder' was with some hot glue around the bottom of the pipe
and drilled 2, small holes so the blade could be held by the 2 prongs inside. Total time took me maybe 30 minutes or so.
You can still see dark spots in real life, but it is still a big improvement. Plus the new blade is quite sturdy and won't crack or break
like the original, cheap, plastic blade. It looks overexposed b/c of my cellphone's camera. Now to find a brighter LED source for my SAO II photon sword prop.
