MacGuyver's Mr. Incredible Suit Huntorial *LOTS OF PICS!*

Hey MacGuyver,

Thanks for the great tutorial I just won my Mr. Incredible suit on EBAY yesterday and I wanted to drop a line to any others looking for the muscle suits.

Eastern Costumes is selling them (Mr. Incredible, Wolverine, Captain America, Mr. Fantastic and Iron Man everyday) on EBAY. The auctions start at ninety nine cents. I got mine for $22 plus $6 to ship

Do you have a link to their ebay store?

hello MacGuyver, as you well used latex prevulcanisé?

I read on the Internet that the latex had a tendency to shrink, as you found it on your costume?

I just received my combination of 4 fantastic, and I would not make any mistakes!!

thank you again for your magnificent tutorial

PS: excuse me if I ask you all this, but I am French and sometimes the translation tools ....

Thanks for the comments. I'm not quite sure exactly what you mean by the term "latex prevulcanisé", but the type of latex used to make this suit is most commonly referred to as natural or raw liquid latex, which I bought directly from another member here who goes by the name monsterroom. You can contact monsterroom through the Lair's PM. Liquid latex will always shrink a bit as it dries from its liquid form into a solid. That's why it is best to use a Duct Tape Dummy for this type of project to be sure the suit will fit perfectly on your own body size & shape once it's finished.

Thank you for your reponse.I think that is also liquid latex . bravo again and thank you for the tutorial.

dude i have to say that is one of the best home build suits i've seen.. really turned out well.. i may do this as a quick fix until i get the funds up to buy a proper one..... i have one criticism tho.. the colour of the veins.. should they not be green.. seen as the pred has green blood... other than that mate this is unreal

Truthfully there is no way for us to know. Just like you have blue veins and your blood is red. Its just how your veins appear to you through skin. So truthfully you can make the veins on a predator any color you want.

Hey macguyver i have to say this huntorial is amazing
i used it to make my skin and i was really happy with the final product.
your a genious for doing this

i used acrylic paints then sealed it with liquitex but since you are in america, i would use permawet from monsterroom

as it will move and flex without cracking the paint

just about start my second skin

a wee bit differnt though this time i went for a superman suit, which is really good as the front muscle area has a backing of what looks like foamies

and the muscle detail is superb

the latex arivves on monday so i will get some pics up

I know this thread is kinda old but i figured what i have to say is real useful.

I think a zentai bodysuit would be a awesome base for the suit, and maybe allow for a even tighter body suit and better fitment.

here is a link to what im talking about.

Edit:
side note i know these are intended for women but my girlfriend pointed them out, after talking to her about this.

also you would have to obviously put alot more effort into the muscle groups and things like that,

however amazing guide!

I got my suit in the mail today and I had some questions.

I made the duck tape dummy and I stuffed it with stuffing and I put it into the Mr. I suit but the Mr. I suit seems to be a little big on it. Did any of you run into this problem and how did you fix it. I know that latex will shrink but I dont know to what degree it will.I was thinking of taking some of the slack out by hemming it with a hot glue gun but I don't know if this would work or how permanent it would be.

Thanks for any help!

Since those "Adult Size" Mr. Incredible Costumes are intended to fit quite a wide variety of different body sizes, it may require a few minor alterations to customize it down to fit your body's exact physical features. This is especially true if you're less than average height and/or weight. I stand 5' 10" tall and weigh somewhere around 200 lbs, which is considered to be just slightly above the average for a 30 year old adult male and yet, I still had to do some minor adjustments to get the Mr. I suit to better fit my body size.

When I first put the Mr. I suit onto my dummy, it also seemed to be somewhat loose in most areas as well but it wasn't quite enough for me to consider doing any major sewing alterations to the suit itself. However, it was enough for me to give it a run through the washer & dryer once or twice to help shrink the entire suit down a size. I knew the latex layers were going to make it shrink a little bit more but I wasn't too worried since it didn't really shrink all that much, but it did shrink just enough to allow for a much better "loose yet snug" fit when placed over the dummy.

The main areas you should be concerned with regarding how the suit fits on the dummy before applying any latex is the areas around the shoulders/arm pits, the waist and the crotch. If there's too much empty space in any of these crucial areas, you may run into some problems later on in the form of cracking and/or peeling once you've spent a few hours moving around inside the suit. Any areas where the suit has too much excess space will be the first areas to show signs of problems because these areas will have to endure the most stress from movement. The areas inside the elbows and behind the knees will inevitably begin to show signs of similar wear n' tear as well but these areas usually aren't as bad as the damage which occurs under the arm pits and crotch.

So, first I'd recommend you give your new Mr. I suit a run through the washer & dryer (at least once) so the whole suit shrinks down a little on its own and then take it from there to see if/where any further adjustments would be required with a needle & thread.
