Maco Phaser Rifle

One detail that I wanted to work out, but didn't have to a guess, was at the very front. I didn't like the gap around the body and the cowl.

How I'm fixing this is by loading up the cowl section and after giving it s few minutes to dry, I pushed the body in. Since it time to harden a bit it did not stick to the body.

Just cleaning up some rough places and some holes here and there. Once this is done, I will be ready for the primer.

Here I have a piece of sandpaper over a stir stick. This should get is sanded nice and flat

Got to get those edges off these pieces. Only showing the pink one but both it and the blue one had the same problem.

Now for a general all around sanding to make sure that any release compound that is remaining is removed.

I can almost smell the primer now.

Wow, you're really doing a number on those kits! Looks like your hard work is paying off. Great buildup shots btw... :thumbsup

Thanks :) looking forward to getting these in primer and then paint. As it is they look like a couple of giant water pistols. LOL I've named them. I call one George and the other one Gracie.

Niice! Could someone clarify something for me? I thought the Maco rifles had the neato rising video site? Are these those?

picked that up over at the Propfix forum from the same guy that I picked up this kit I built. When you go there look in the Enterprise Section.

remember that what I do for one piece I almost always have to for the 2nd matching piece for the other rifle.

Ready for some primer

OH NO needs a few places still touched up. :(

This time everything is looking SLICK!

On to touching up the cowls a bit more

This thing is about to look a whole lot less like a giant water pistol

Now to do the other set.

looking at some of the screenshot pics on phasers.net and comparing it to yours, it looks like you are missing some parts at the front of the gun. Do you have those or are you going to scratchbuild them?

I have them all in a bag. Pieces like the fins and such. Working on the big pieces first.

Here's a shot of them together. The parts are not painted it just happens that I used two different color primers and they happened to be close to what it should like.

The butt pieces are now cleaned up and ready for primer.

Loved the Maco weapons from the show. Thanks for posting your progress pics on this one. I'd love to pick up a kit of the rifle someday.

I can't either!! Doubt that I will get much chance to work on it until Wed though. :(
