Mama from Batteries Not Included

Next steps!!
Once the vacuformed bottom plate was glued and smoothed in, I started plotting out the raised plating. There was an access panel on the underside to get to the lighting and mechanisms, and since I plan on having lights in mine, I cut it open on mine.

I made a second vacuform so that when I cut the panels they would have the matching contours as the belly.

The panels are mostly symmetrical, however there are two shallow recessed wells that are not symmetrical on either side of the access panel.
Laying out all the panels was tricky, but I'm pretty confident that I got them close. Not perfect, but better than before.

Finally cut the panels loose and glued them in place. It's starting to look like something!
Here you can see the shallow wells on either side of the access opening.

...and here is the access panel with its plating.

... and both parts together!

Now comes the fun part, adding the details with strips and tiny bits of evergreen plastic. What I like to call "Chip'n strips"!
Not to be confused with "Chick'n strips". .....very different...

There are a few model kit parts as well, and here is where I could use some help from all you amazing kit part IDers. Some of the parts I am just building from my styrene bits, and some I recognized and pulled from the ole kit stash, but there are some that I don't recognize and would appreciate some help finding.

But first! some pics!

There are a few parts from the Hasegawa Thor railroad gun kit.

So here are some parts I could use your help identifying! Get out your decoder rings a spy glasses!

There are 4 of these hatches circled in yellow that look really familiar, but I can't place the kit. There are also a couple triangular truss pieces (also circled in yellow to be confusing) that I'd love to find the kit part.

Here's another set of challenges: the gear-wells seem to be full of car/truck suspension parts, but I'll be ding-donged if I can guess where they are from. If there is anything in there that looks familiar to you, please let me know!

The challenge is presented, and the gauntlet has been thrown! All hail the brain trust!

Well, you were right not to mix Chip'n strips with Chick'n strips...I read your first line too fast and was confused:lol::lol::eek::eek:
Paneling looks bitchin':cool: Sorry that I cannot help you with kit parts (my knowledge is sub-par in that subject):(
Eager to see your next update!

First image, that looks like the same shape as the suspension arm used on the Aliens smart gun...

Also UTTERLY adore this movie. Was one of my favs as a kid. The baby who almost didnt make it was so so sweet. And it was the friendly giant boxer caretaker who saved him... Even thinking about it all now brings tear to my eye.

Im still a little unsure of who made the film... I always thought it was Spielberg... It has his touch without any doubt. But its credited as Matthew Robbins. Some one who I must admit. No clue who that is.

It has Spielberg's stamp all over it because the story was originally developed for his Amazing Stories TV show, but he liked it so much that he had it developed into a feature film. I believe it was also the feature writing debut of Brad Bird.

I found an image of Tamiya's sprue for the jagdtiger, and the hatch looks close, but the hinges need to be further outboard and it wants a square-ish pip off to the side.
