Metallic Painting On Resin

Hi Folks

So on my golden Mini Stargates, I prefer shiny gold in preference to the current Ancient gold that they were brush painted as in the molding process
- Only problem is that when I apply the metallic paint, then even if I leave it for a week of drying, then moderate pressure leaves fingerprints :-(

- I cant use a clearcote ? as that will take all the shine off it and leave it dull ( have tried one )

- I'm using Duplicolor GS100 as I want a bright metallic

- Anyone got any solutions on how I can get it to dry rock solid ?, or topcoat protect it but keep the shine

This is a problem with all metallic paints. If the clear coat has a solvent base it will make it dull. An acrylic clear or Future might be better, but test it first.

Are you using the correct primer for that paint? If not they might be reacting against each other and not curing.

Hey Stefan :)
Mabe this is an option for you
Marabu Do-it colorspray 086
I used the copper-spray (087) for the staff weapon I made. It's really quick drying and "smudge-proof", as they say. I'm not shure if it will be as shiny, as the Alclad2, but it is really easy to use.
A friend of mine told me about a manufacturer of another paint, which is supposed to give a wear resistant chrome-look, without beeing real chrome...I will tell you, if he tells me! :)
