It will look much better when I have the straps added to the back to tighten the front. My beard should grow in by Movie Premiere Tuesday and I'll give it the "just for men" blonde treatment, add the blonde wig. I will eventually change the pants to the chain mail look as I am not fond of the leather pants.
Apologize for the blurry pics. My photographer needs some photo training.

Maybe they used individual metal or plastic scales that had small eyelets on their backs that could be glued as well as sewn onto the arms with precise gaps in beteween to allow movement. That would be my best guess on how the scales were made as well as applied so that they would stay on while allowing movement.

Sometimes the scales look like a a big chunk of sculpted rubber and sometimes they look like individual scales. I'd guess that both approaches were probably used depending on the scene.
