Wow! Simply fantastic. I'm not familiar with the details of this kit's saucer section, so apologies if this should be obvious, but were those previous gap lines simply painted in? They look scribed in your before picture.

Beautiful upgrade with the repaint!No idea. Other than some were "artist proof" versions which were supposedly painted better.
I'm in the process of completely repainting mine anyway to reflect the new Smithsonian information.
