The faceplate will be done as soon as I get back from vacations.
Please let me know how is going since this is my first pepakura project...

Thanks a lot to everyone.
Cheers!

You are off to an amazing start.
a clean pep makes for a good build.

for hardening it. i suggest using rondo.
its simple and fast. you just have to be carefull not to get too sloppy with it.

If you have any questions about it. just ask:)

Looks good so far.
I used a pep I found on the 405th that I believe was a collaboration between dungbeetle and Sharkhead. If you have any problems with this pep, I suggest looking for that one. the actual pep was incredibly easy to put together.

Also if you have trouble with fiberglass or bondo, I'm using the hot glue and joint compound methods. The hot glue is non toxic, hardens well, easy to apply and very inexpensive. The joint compound is the same, but it tends to be a bit brittle...

What do you have planned for the hinges and eyes? I can't seem to find a practical, readily available hinge system and I've been trying to research EL strips for the eyes with little luck.

Thank you so much for the suggestion, warlickjacoby.... I will be sure to keep that in mind as soon as I start hardening this design.

Well, for the hardening, I've look over the fiber glass and it might be the right choise for me, but i haven't really came up with the solution yet...
As for the hinge system, that's a tricky one... i've look all over the forum and there is too little about the subject. I will ask one of my workmates, one of them is a robotic engineer, he could give me a hand.
For the eyes, i've been thinking in something like this:

video-glasses.jpg

Then try to connect the video system into a computer in order to get the image from it... you can get an idea where im going :)
But, thats just something I came up a moment ago...

Thank you guys for the responces, Im really glad this project is going along well.

Cheers!

pep is looking good! i am also going to use a set of video glasses conected to a small cam to be placed in the front of my armor to see, i dont like the idea of peering through tiny eye slots walking around crowded cons!

Ive got some hinges posted over on siwdat. That is if all the postings didnt get wiped out.. Lol. Your pep looks awesome. Keep up the great work.

nice pep. you're off to a great start. :) btw do you have an idea how much those glasses will cost? :)

hm, good question, I found some good ones in dealextreme for about $110... i know is not cheap, but i like the idea.
Those are the cheapest ones i came accross.
Cheers!

Thank you guys for the opinion on my pep.

Great build so far. I 've seen silmiliar glasses in luxury catalogs, supposed to similate a 60" screen. forgot the price cause to was crazy and I didnt need them,...till now. I really hope you do that kagn.

keep up with the wip pics.

Sorry guys for the late post but I've been in vacations and I couldn't get into my work until this week...

Well, im almost done with the paper design... it took me some time since is my first work....
Im open to advices. Thank you to all of you who support me on this.

Cheers!

This is looking fantastic buddy. Very clean pep work. Best take your time and come out with a great pep than rush and come out with an average pep.

Personally from my build I'd suggest about 3-4 layers of resin on the outside of the helmet to make it tough then do this inside with either Fibreglass or the Rondo method that alot of people here use.

Then its up to you to do the filler on the outside and sand it down.

Many method for you to do. It is of course though, up to you how you complete the build.

Last thing, welcome to the RPF!

Where'd you find a pep file with the numbers on it...I'm working with out them and I'm stumped on the eyeslots without reference.

Okay...Nevermind...just found the show edge Id button....damnit.

By the way, MykiiAmore, thanks for the advice and godproject, good thing you found the show edge id button, lol!

Cheers!

Yes, Joshalots, actually it took me more than 3 months or so. I had a big brake when a went on vacations, so I don´t count that month.
But as MykiiAmore said: "Best take your time and come out with a great pep than rush and come out with an average pep" which is what I´ve been doing so far.

Once again I thank everyone taking the time posting on this wip, is a big deal for me and it helps me with the motivation to keep going.

Thank you all.

Cheers!
