My Indy Gear...

As Frosty's jacket shows, better than I could explain it, you can get a jacket that is screen accurate without breaking the bank. For $150 you really cannot go wrong, and I'm unaware of anyone else that even comes close in that price range.

Very true! Todd's jacket is not only priced the lowest in the market, but it is a very screen-accurate Raiders jacket.
The next step up from Todd's is a jacket from Wested, which depending on what leather you go with, will run you nearly $60 more - but you have the hassle of buying an item internationally.
If you're looking for the MOST cost effective Indy jacket, there is NO QUESTION that Todd's offering is the ONLY choice...and as an added bonus, it's screen accurate!!

I would like to add though that the Todd jacket is extremely thin. I haven't handled one in a while, but the one I did get a chance to try on a couple years ago felt a bit like a plastic bag in both weight and thickness. I'm also not a fan of the really pointy collar. If it were my money I'd go with a Wested.

Great look with the jacket and hat. I like my wested, but the Todd's looks good. I have a lot of his gear and am looking forward to him offering pants as well.

Cheers

Sebastian

I remember reading so much about how Todds jacket was thin - it actually scared me away from it for a while. Then I started to actually look at pictures of customers wearing thier Todds jackets - it looked pretty accurate in design and 'weight' to me. After talking with some owners back and forth, I was able to score a Todds jacket on Ebay for a great price.
I have to say that the soft lambskin leather REALLY works for this jacket. yeah, it's thin, but it works for you because it drapes on your body and moves just like the Raiders jacket should.
I think saying it feels like a trashbag is pretty dramatic, but it is def not a winter jacket, but would be excellent in spring and fall.

Well since we're sharing. :)

GREAT location to show off your gear! Sometimes I wish I could find a jungle nearby to take some good 'money shots' of me in my gear.
I also just updated my jacket a little - I rolled out the sleeves a bit to make them a little longer and ran the cuffs under cold water to release the crease mark. They look pretty good and screen accurate now.

VERY nice outfit!

It'd be awesome if you take some pictures in the Indiana Jones ride, with the Mayan pyramid as background!

I have some more nature shots here.

Thinnest to thickest:

Todd
Wested
US Wings/other
Tony Nowak
Magnoli

Magnoli gets that ranking cuz if you want you can have it lined like a winter coat.

A couple of the jacket makers have a range of leathers from lamb through to cowhide and horsehide. Cow and horse will be warmer/thicker, but leather on it's own is still not a very good insulator and not much use for the sub zero temps being talked about.

I live in an area where it's about 20 degrees in the winter. My Wested does just fine. I never even zip it.

atm I'm very tempted to buy a Todd's jacket, since I live in subtropical zone.

Thanks for all the info and tips about the jacket. This thread is very helpful!

I know it's a little off topic, but WHAT do you put in your gas mask bag?

I was thinking the cross of coronado....

so just to be clear the Wested is warm and a thicker jacket? Good for rain and cold weather?

Lamb is one of the thinner leathers. That said, I wear a lamb one most days, all seasons. It is good in the winter with a nice sweater underneath (the jackets are short by nature so a draft will go up the backside). Great in the spring and fall, and even on cool summer nights.

All around good jacket. Not the spectacular quality of a Nowak, but at around $300 LESS than a Nowak, a no brainer for someone on a bit of a budget.
