My tinkering with character options sonic

had a ratch around today but cant find anything suitable unfortunately , there is some stuff online for about £5 but i can get another sonic for £10 so makes more sense to just get another and rob the head from it i think ?

Managed to get hold of one of the older sonics with just the two noises so think il modify it to fit this handle and use that one , il turn this damaged one into the burnt out version at least.

I did some more work on the handle , filled and smoothed the join at the bottom to remove those lower teeth , body is ready now but need some decent silver paint for the bottom part first :

I painted the damaged head with some silver paint but it dosnt look as much like metal as the origonal stuff and il need some for the handle , any recomendations for some good metal looking paint ?

If you have an airbrush, Tamiya X-11 Chrome Silver would be a good match I think. Or a silver auto touch-up spray paint (brands in the US are different from what the UK has or I would give a suggestion). :)

I have some of that x-11 stuff in a pot actually but no airbrush , i was toying with the idea of chrome paint

Not heard of rub n buff before il take a look thanks

Iv used the x11 by brush on the silver bits and it is certainly a good match , iv still another coat to do before im happy then i can attach them back up.

I got the older sonic with one sound effect but it has the crappy UV light which unfortunatly i cant change it , tried on the old sonic to get the led out and ended up like this :

So im just going to keep the UV ! , I found with only two batterys the UV light barley lit up so had to do some more work to allow all 3 to fit , i went at the handle some more with a large drill it , and some sand paper wrapped round a tube and chopped the battery compartment down as much as i could with 3 in there , ended up getting the head in there but need to do some tweaks to the head to secure the batterys properly then i can do the wiring/switch.

I carved put a slot for the blue line in the handle and tried out my crackle paint and im happy with how it turned out , il do the blue line tommorow when its set then laquer it all :

I seem to be getting a bit carried away with it now !

Handle was repainted after a bit more filling was done to accomodate a change to the switch , still got a few things to do the main thing i could do with help on is how to secure the top collar so it is removable to change the battries ect otherwise il have to just epoxy it on.

Little teaser litterally held together ;)

Looks brilliant, I'm sure tennant would be proud, if only I managed to do this with one of the 5 I broke in less than a space of 2 months...............

Thanks :) , Id been meaning to update this for a while actually.

I've repainted the handle and added the screw holes at the back , But for the life of me cant come up with a way to get that top teeth section attached to the handle. Ideally it needs to be removable to I can change out the batteries

Um I did it easily with scissors have you another toy because if you just push it up with a blade of scissors it easily comes of I did it sucessfully in 5 seconds with all of my failed attempt modded tens sonics, also do you wants some photos of the prop, if so tell me which one and if you do the collar thing in which I just described then add it to the handle

The newer releases have that cap glued down pretty solid , I had to cut it off when I shortened the handle down to the correct size anyway, Its getting it back on that im struggling with as the handle is now the same width as the cap so no slot for it to attach to , I could probably glue it down but would risk getting it on the clear section and not being able to change the batteries.

Oh yeah the ones with the classic sounds have really stuck caps, I'm Sure you could get one of those of another person, I bought one for 40 quid, ridiculous price but the wave one release of the tennant has a loose cap, cause around 3-4 of mine were wave one releases and they worked perfectly

Yeah I have a couple of those but have no way of attaching the cap to the body , the body has been cut down to the correct size so dosnt have the ridge for the cap , Il post a pic later

I made the slider plate to be like tennants out of a piece of plastic and the old switch :)

I was looking to paint the fake wire in the tube yellow but on another one I had it broke the end ( in an earlier post there is a pic ) so didnt take the risk with this one as its the earlier version with the right sound effects.

Have you not tried just taking the whole thing of by cutting it open with a knife then painting the really small wires

I dont know what you mean , if you cut it open you would have to re-solder the wires and they are really ****ty wires to solder lol , Plus would have to glue its back together and to me its just not worth it ...Yet ;)
