I'm curious-- at this scale, did you do any shading or weathering on the final paint job? I'm not sure if it is even feasible or would show up on a model of this scale.

A very small amount of weathering....Your right, at this scale it would look grossly overdone. And stupid.It's the same with the lighting. It has to be done to scale. You wouldn't believe the guys who just don't get it! Also you can't use the standard white LEDs in the portholes. It looks blue! and is completely wrong. They used incandescent lighting back then, which gives off an orangey glow...NOT blue!!
Here's my Galactica photographed against a Black background. If you want it to look like the actual miniature I suggest several things...
Don't use white LEDS...They give off a bluish glow, and are completely Inaccurate to the lighting used on the FX model.
Light it to scale...The view ports are tiny at this scale, and overly bright LEDS, Just to Light for Lightening sake is the typical route most will take. Diffuse the lighting.
Don't weather this thing as if it were a 7' model...It aint!

No decals for the landing bays...A forced perspective image(like the actual miniature) Is provided on the interior box for rather side.

I'd really like to see if I can squeeze some fiber optics into the landing bays and have the lights chase : )

Sincere thanks Galactica Fan. No I didn't use the Photo-Etch from Paragrafx...Perhaps on a second build. The chaser lights could be accomplished, but one would really have to factor in scale. The model is about 17.5" In length, so one would need to proceed cautiously.
