need Trek TOS med scanner info. building

i have gotten this far with my home built med scanner. :)

it still needs a lot of cleaning up but i was checking fit and operation first.

i wanted to prove to myself i could get everything in a correct size unit with mostly found parts.

the spinning center is the top from a marker pen. it has a motor and a rheostat to set the speed.

the i used thin leather to cover it to match the Tric pattern . :D

jacked the volts up from 3v to 4.5v to use three smaller 357 , 1.5 v batteries

it also uses the sound board from the Playmate scanner with the speaker in the bottom.
:angel
more pics when i make it purty. :p

Well done. :thumbsup

Don't care for the gold tones in the round sticker tho. Must be silvery holographic foil. :p

(and larger diameter too... it's actually an oval, not circle)

I had a conversation with Bruce Wegman in the late 70"s and was told that the Med scanner used a 15/16" pill bottle.

Actually the Profiles catalog closeup I posted above, is probably the best shot I have. :rolleyes

The red/orange stripes on the sides are evident. :)

I've never examined a screenused prop so I can't say for sure, but it seems likely the "ovals" on the spinny part are silver, or a "holofoil" pattern. There is what I call the "diffraction grating" tricorder prop, which has some kind of foil disc in the moire ring. This could be similar material.

Some say on the original it was metal... on my HMS it's frosted plexi.

You can also see a female in the background of that shot in a command tunic... seemed to be fewer of those as the seasons wore on... I can't recall seeing a female in a command uniform at all in the third season. :lol
