New Martian war machine model (1953 version)

The base of the dio is like 8" so they are pretty little guys.

The big model is 11" wingspan.

Look.

The diorama has little ashen heaps of the three idio... uh brave men who tried to make peace with the martians. :lol

:lol

One of the best scenes!

Love the bell jar idea too, that would look just right (and I think I have one the right size somewhere too! :D).

I think I read that the small ones are about 3 inches and have clear parts as well.

Looks like the tank is getting hit by cherry soda! I think I would have to paint part or all of the tank red to simulate the disintegration. Pretty cool still. I would have killed to have this as a kid!

So who is going to be the first to cast one of these tanks in clear resin? Would be very cool to have one lit from underneath to show it "melting"!

Got the prebuilt and the kit today.

Kit is white plastic, basic build up.

Smaller diorama kit should show up soon.

Here is the prebuilt. Attracts dust in seconds. Shined a laser on the heat ray for fun.

Rob, where did you get the built plated model? The link at the beginning of the thread say it's out of stock. I did order a kit from ebay but man I NEED one of these plated built versions as well. Another question, anyway to disassmeble the pre-built? I love the finish but would love to add lighting to it.

From what I can tell it is glued pretty good and that's that.
I think tearing it apart would be destructive.

The two major halves fit together very tight and have multiple glue points.
So if they even if they used a tiny amount of glue on only some of those points, I can't see how it would be possible to get it apart with out bending the plastics horribly.

These guys could probably manage the chrome job though for a decent price...

Although these look pretty darn cool. Was the finish on the real one THAT polished? I just don't think so. Needs to be taken down a bit. Probably sounds crazy but I'd go at that with some really fine steel wool. Give it more of a brushed look. I believe it would be more accurate that way.

They appear as they did on Mars fresh off the new war machine lot properly detailed. :thumbsup

I think it is better to start with one of the non chromed models and go from there to get the proper screen finish. Seems a shame to wear down the prebuilt ones, cannot even put lights in it without a major teardown that is likely destructive.
