I also reached out to that blog a few years back when doing my Padme blaster, they replied " that would be the best we have". So I don't think they'll be able to help. Crazy that those are the only photos of that exhibition we can find, the prop display was very cool.
Edit: that being said, I read "blog" and saw the pic quickly and now I'm not sure we are talking about the same blog anymore. As the Padme blaster is not in you pic.

I will have to bust out the TPM saber model later and do some overlays. That saber has all the signatures of THE Episode 1 hero saber. These are all features which Anakin Starkiller and I included in our TPM Hero saber replica BTW.

More like IF that is the TPM hero, it was just lost a couple years later than we thought. If that’s an Episode 2 promo shot, it’s probably from what 2001? Filming for Episode 1 wrapped in 1997?

The weird thing is that it appears to have the brass ball-bearing in the knob, rather than the TPM purple aircraft rivet, which is consistent with the AOTC chromed resin heroes/stunts. And the bezels also appear to include the LEDs.
Could this be a more hero-ized, chromed resin copy of the TPM hero than what we’re used to thinking of? That is, one with finer detailing than the other resin sabers (such as the LEDs), so that it works better as a replacement for the metal TPM hero?

It's funny, IF it is the same saber it would show that the TPM and AOTC Obi hero sabers were one and the same, meaning the chromed stunt that MR replicated and later became the Obi-Wan series hero, never should have existed.

Isn’t that the exact same situation as the Luke Hero and V2? Even if the chromed stunt isn’t officially the hero, it’s still what’s seen on screen for most (all?) of AOTC.

It would be interesting to know at what point during production these publicity photos were taken.
It's obviously before the pick-ups with the fake beard were done, but if these pics were taken prior to principal photography, the TPM hero may have never made it to set.

The TPM hero was refurbished for AOTC. Polished up to match the high-shine look of the new designs (Anakin, Dooku, Mace). The aircraft rivet was replaced with the brass bearing.
During filming, Ewan prefers the lightweight, chromed resin copies as his belt-hangers, and the hero is used mainly for publicity photos.
After AOTC, the hero goes missing/into private hands. During ROTS pre-production, the salt-shaker is machined from scratch, using the resin TPM castings as reference, resulting in some dimensional differences. This new prop is presented to Lucas as an option for Obi-Wan to carry in ROTS before the ANH-style saber is introduced for continuity reasons. The salt-shaker is used for early camera/costume tests and duel practice, but Lucas ultimately decides that Obi-Wan will simply use the ANH-style saber at the very beginning of the film, and the salt-shaker is never used onscreen.

That still looks like the purple rivet to me. The purple coating is VERY VERY easy to remove, even with just handling:
That's certainly plausible. The coating wore off, and so that's the look which was replicated for the chromed dummies and stunts.
I was thinking the same thing. Except I love the Luke V2 but could never tolerate the Obi AOTC chromed stunt.
