Nightwing escrima sticks

Hello all. I'm new to posting on this forum but have frequented it often on my searches for items I create. Here is my latest creation based on the TriForce and Arkham city game Nightwing escrima sticks. These are made from black resin, except for the center stick which is aluminum. I put a translucent piece in the middle and put in a 12v led light in the base with a switch on the opposite end of the stick. I took measurements from pictures from the web and pictures I took in person at some Cons in the past on the Triforce Nightwing display that is suppose to come out in Nov 2014 I believe. These are my favorites so far. Hope ya likem. :)

I just now noticed that they look bent or not straight in that pic, lol. They are not though, they are straight :)

Thank you all much. Took me 2 weeks to make these. I'm thinking of making another set that actually have the electric shock build in by taking pieces from a taser and running some leads on the business end, lol.

Looking awesome man! I'm assuming these where molded into black resin, do you have any pics of constructing the master and molding it? Also, love that you used aluminum for the central shaft, really gives a more solid and reliable feel.

But why 12v to run just 2 leds? That seems pretty overkill. Check this place out: Component LEDs | Super Bright LEDs
They have a huge selection of crazy bright LEDs in every color, that run on normally around 3v. I've been getting LED's from them for years, and am always happy with my purchases.

Yep. I made the piece out of paper after making the measurements, then made them out of clay. The pieces im talking about are the 4 long extended piece that go around the outside and the end cap. The 6 discs in the end that go around the lighted column are a very specific size flat washer, I made copies out of the washers out of resin mainly due to cost and to lessen the weight. The base model was made from a piece of pvp pipe and a dowel rod. I poured the molds out of RTV silicone and just poured the pieces using black resin. Sanded, drilled, and prepped the pieces and clued them together.

The light I used was a automobile LED console light replacement that runs on a 12v system and it also set down in very well. The size of the battery for the light was also a consideration. I used an 23a 12v that sits nicely into a N battery holder, that slid in perfectly into the aluminum tube.

Sorry, I don't have pictures, I thought about it after I was done but its too late now. Might try to do something like that when I make another set. Thanks.

There are some stun batons on the market that have leads on the outside part of the stick. Might look into something like that, then modify if to fit on mine. Might have to use a larger center tube to house the battery for it though, we'll see.

Those look great! We went as a Batman family two Halloween's ago. Now you make me want to add the lights. :)

Cool, that is awesome. That is an awesome jacket by the way. That's how I'd do it. I can't even get a girlfriend to wear a batgirl outfit, lol.

LOL. Thank you. Had to customize the jacket. Yeah, my wife puts up with it, she's outnumbered, two sons and a husband. More pics of other costumes we've done are in my album. :)

WOW! Very cool! I used to do martial arts and was always privy to escrima. Now I want to do a Nightwing cosplay just to get me a pair of those! Nice work. :)

Thanks all. If an Inerest run is making some sets for selling to a few people...then maybe. I'm working on a couple of things now, one being an all leather nightwing outfit and a stick set that have actual electric shock and electric arc to them. I'll post up in here if I ever do.

Totally interested if you do a run. Great stuff.

Well, I'm working on another set now. Doing it slowly as I have other things going on but should have them done in 2-3 weeks. I post them on here someplace once completed and we'll see what can be done. Thanks.
