ORCA scratch build

Looking great as usual! Makes me want a scanner of my own (not in the cards right now).
BTW, when I saw this pic on my phone, I thought you made a couple frothy pint glasses of beer, which I didn't think they had on the Orca. Turns out, it's the upside-down shoes. Either I need better eyes or I'm an alcoholic (maybe both)...

So interesting you may have noticed my chair is a little small turns out because the chair is the only thing in this project that I modeled at NECA scale (only making a qube in full size using the auction site dimensions) I upscaled wrong missing out 0.06. doesn't sound like a lot but it makes a differance. So I modeled my chair using the action of this chair because they had photos from all angles

Now in most pictures this looks like the same chair design but now I know it is slightly different in very subtle ways

if this is the actual screen used chair (minus the cushions) the Right leg rest arm has been replaced by what looks like 2" steel flat bar.
So I've remodeled and reprinting. I love 3D printing it's changed the world of model making it works while you do other things.
Oh need to make harness now

Hi flimzy, great work..... Did you say what scanner you used???
I had the 3D systems Sencse for a long time and it put me off scanning as it was a pig of a design. now I've just got the Einstar Shining 3D.
I was hearing so many good things and I can now say they are all true It works wonders. and the software is much more comprehensive.

I haven’t watched this in a long time but I’ve been thinking I should again.

I’m interested in Quint’s truck too…

I looked at the Einstar Shining 3D hand scanner but was put off by the fact that there is no way it can be used without setting up an account with "Shining 3D" and being login to use it. Not willing to let a "company" that kind of access to my data (computer).....o_O Just the fact that you need a "live" internet connection to use it, makes it impossible for remote scanning..... Have you found a way to get around that requirement?

I agree with the whole account thing its a pain in the ass. how many passwords can one person have? So far apart from logging on to get the software you can work offline. The software sits on your PC it's not cloud-based like Fusion 360 or Glowforge. I didn't have much choice in that price range the software is streets ahead the 3dsystem attempt at doing a low-budget kit. There are some other small scanners but for me they
do not have the rang-in scales 200mm up.

I don’t know if it’s any use but Elegoo recently released a white light scanner that looks pretty decent for around $800 with basic software.

Probably not for creating things like sculpting but if you need a .STP of a real object NOW, you can have it in a few minutes. We are considering one for work where these legacy aircraft parts don’t have .STP files with the OEM and we need to make tooling.
