Original Trek (09) props Planet Hollywood auction

I was hoping beyond hope that the COP Helmet (who chases down young Kirk) would be in the lot..

On the commentary track, JJ mentions that they shot that scene with the actor's face visible, and added the face mask portion later in post. So, I guess that part of the helmet might not really exist.

yeah turns out that police mask was added with CG afterwards.... tell you what though it's GREAT CG work 'cause I'd just always assumed it was a physical mask.

Wouldnt mind having that communicator. Then again, I wouldnt mind having an extra $2,000.00 in the bank either...
It really does look like a modern cell phone. I hope one of these cellular companies wakes up and hops on a good idea when the see one.
For the movie though, I think the starfleet logo on it is a bit tacky - and why alter the OS design so much :confused

In the "Star Trek - Art of the Film" book there are concept sketches for communicators that look very much like the OS design but sleeker. There are also phaser concepts that have recognizable elements of the originals. To me, though, the Kelvin communicators which look most like the OS ones look dated.

I'd LOVE to have that Kelvin phaser! Too bad they aren't offering the Kelvin communicator to go with it. And of course, I'd have to have a LOT more money in the bank than I actually do, to be able to afford either one. :unsure

Why would anyone want one of those enterprise models? I feel nauseated.

Those are models originally made by QMX (Quantum Mechanix) from the original ILM digital model data. Although they hurt the eyes to look at if you bought the black/pink/green/freakshow-one (OMG did I just say that???) you could strip it and repaint to appear as the Abram'sprise from the film.

Just say'n...

I just couldn't wait till 2010 so i went out and bought a awesome in size (LoL) screen prop, and well I think size doe matter. Those with the biggest toys win??...

I'm guessing that the estimates are a bit low on the phaser/communicator/tricorder. Those will go for a TON more than $2000. I'd estimate double.
