PAINTING MY GREMLIN step by step--FINISHED pics POST#39

Re: PAINTING MY GREMLIN step by step-- new pics update 10/4/10

The black edge on the ears really makes them pop.

It really does.

Looking killer Zorg. I was thinking I wanted to see a bit of green in there, untill you got to this point. But I am really liking the color scheme on this guy. (y)thumbsup

I can't say I like the pattern at the back of the ears at the moment, it looks like a butterfly to me.

So says your Rorschach test. :angel

Re: PAINTING MY GREMLIN step by step-- new pics update 10/4/10

That looks awesome!

The butterfly thing isn't so much a Rorschach test, since some butterflies actually have patterns just like that on their wings. :) IMO, it makes the gremlin look more like a real living creature.

That's the kind of painting I'd like to be able to do in CG-land now that I have a proper graphics tablet. The only thing holding me back is that I suck.. LOL.

Did I reveal my psychotic side?..what...the Butterfly is telling me to do what??...no, not again!..

And it was just one guys opinion. Zorg won't be offended, I hope :confused

I was just being silly. Thought it was funny that you saw a butterfly is all. :)

I'm pretty sure Zorg won't be offended that easily. :)

It really does give it that extra something to make it look alive.

I did not take it as an insult, but it does look like a butterfly, it has massive wings! (this better not become a title) I did look at it again after you mentioned the Rorschach test, to see what I could make out (as I bet others have done) I see blasters pointing down.

this is kinda the look i'm going for, a "realistic" reptilian creature

since i have never painted anything reptilian before i wasn't confident enough to do the whole mad stripy paint job.

i got the inspiration for the ear detail from this gremlins ears (lenny?)

i have just painted in the horn detail today, it will need another coat then some oil paints.

Re: PAINTING MY GREMLIN step by step-- new pics update 10/4/10

Looks really good, can't wait to see it finished ;)

Re: PAINTING MY GREMLIN step by step-- new pics update 10/4/10

That's just gorgeous, Zorg. Nice, and thanks muchly for the step-by-step.

With your water problem, can you just unhook your airbrush and blow it out? Used to work for me with my old small compressor, you just have to remember to do it regularly.

Re: PAINTING MY GREMLIN step by step-- new pics update 10/4/10

Your paintjob is looking great. Makes me want to dig mine out of the
closet and play with my airbrush again.

Are you going to be adding any green to it or are you just keeping the
brown tones?

Can't wait to see more on this.

Re: PAINTING MY GREMLIN step by step-- new pics update 10/4/10

gonna stick with the browns, i won't get much work done it this week as im back on 12hr shifts :unsure

overall im more than happy with the way its turned out so far.

well the gremlin painting is finally finished, just got to sort out the base.
the eyes were done with tamiya paint through my airbrush, they really suit the colour scheme i think.

how did i do? this was my first creature paint up.

hope this thread was of some help to you.
