Predator 1:1 Display Wip

That build is awesome!
My suggestion: Use other blades.
A cool feature would be if you can slide the blades into different positions.
Some lights on the computer-gauntlet would be a nice addition.
Also attached a pic of Narin's model-kit. I like this kind of jungle-theme.
How about a little glowing-in-dark blood painted on this sculpt?

This is just too cool.

The amount of detail you are putting into it and the eye for accurate portrayal is nothing short of amazement. I cannot wait to see the next progress pic for this piece. I am simply blown away. It's going to be HUUUUGE!!!

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

I'm anxiously awaiting progress pics of the paintup. Joe's a little back logged on his work, but that's fine by me. I need the time to clear a space for what will no doubt be the centerpiece of my collection. It won't be the most expensive thing I own, but it will definitely be the biggest and most impressive thing I'll have.

Thanks for the suggestions, Skullcrusher! Feedback is always helpful, and the Narin base is inspiring. I think it's worth the extra effort to do something interesting for a base with any display. Too many times I see people spend thousands of dollars on a Darth Vader suit, for example, only to put it on a PVC pipe dummy and lean it into a corner because it can't stand on its own. Seriously, someone can spend a few grand on a costume but can't spring for a $200 proper mannequin?

I'm kicking around an idea for a killer base that I hope you all will like.

As for the blades, Bob was perfecting his for remastering. He did the originals years ago and they got recast a few times, but I know he can do better now, and I have no doubt his new ones will be killer. Regardless of his end result, mine will have the proper rods, not just a slot in the back. If I can coordinate it, maybe we can get them cast up in aluminum, or at the very least aluminum powdered resin so they can be buffed to a metallic looking shine.

Gauntlets . . . yes, I'm happy to say those are being stepped up. I didn't take any progress pics of my blade gauntlet with the new Milleneum Falcon found piece incorporated into the top, but I have no doubts that's the correct piece. To my knowledge, no else has accurized the blade gauntlet in this way. Though I'm sure Art will commission one that will put mine to shame now that he knows what goes on top.

On the bomb gauntlet, I noted the triangular push buttons were reversed in their orientation on the copy I had, so we cast up new ones, ground off the old ones, and added the new ones in their correct position. I also revised a few things, but I will be adding lights and accurizing further when I get the stuff back from Joe. I will probably modify it so that it will be hinged to open, and then do the interior with the newly found model parts.

Likewise, the backpack and plasma cannon will be completely rehauled this summer with all the recent model discoveries over at The RPF.

I will most likely be adding sounds and a motion sensor activated servo motor which will turn the cannon. These are going to be fun add-ons, but I'm not in any rush. They can be incorporated later once I'm over the hump of the main work.

Flourescent / glow in the dark / Dayglow monster blood . . . believe me, I've considered incorporating that sort of pain, which would really pop when I had a blacklight in the room. Actually, there's not a lot I haven't considered doing on this thing. We'll see about that one.

Right now I'm in a holding pattern, waiting for the paintwork to be done and considering base options. Will post paint progress pics as Joe gets them to me. :)

I had a bit of unexpected luck today and found two faux rock formations, one small and one very large.

The small one I'll hold in reserve for another display, but the large one is a MONSTER boulder. Granted, they are kind of crude and will have to be modified, and repainted in a lot more variations in tone and color, but what a great starting point to use for my Predator display base.

The price for the big was an incredible deal . . . $25! I got the small one for $7!

Oh, and the larger rock is 32 inches at its highest point. Massive.

This also arrived in the mail today. More backpack parts!

Thanks, Shaka. I agree. While I'll need to modify it, it will definitely beat scratch building. Heck, you couldn't buy the raw materials for $25!

The auction had all sorts of photography studio props. There was so much more I could have bought. I stood in the heat and sun for like four hrs until they got to the items I wanted, but it was worth it!

I especially like the hands, soon to stanrt working on a pair myself for my 1:1 statue because it had the P2 style hands. I got poseable artist hands to adapt into larger ones so I can change the pose but your's are making me envious of their accuracy!

Does anyone have any ideas where I can get a P1 fanny pack?

I'm trying to work out the dimensions on this, but have no idea. Maybe when I get my display back, I can better estimate. I'm thinking this is a found item, and would love to hear any info anyone might have on it.

Really amazing work! Truly beautiful!

One small gripe though, not sure if it's just the picture or the angle of the shot. But from the pic (second post above) it really looks like the left shin armor is very bent.

You're correct. Well, maybe more like an unnatural bow than a bend. That's the way the Morris leg was and Bob just followed the form when filling out the back. I'll likely correct it when I stop finding other things to correct, fix and tweak.

I've also asked Joe to lighten the armor quite a bit. He's done a great job on the mottled armor, but it's just a bit too dark for my liking.
