Probably too late, but need advice... I've been ripped off!

He may come through in the end, but this experience will definitely paint the finished piece for you - your enjoyment of it will be lessened and that is sad. The fact that he hasn't even started yet... man, if it was me I would just say: "forget it bro, you had your chance. Now I just want my money back!".

Nothing that will happen from now on will make you fully appreciate whatever he ends up with. He could sculpt the best likeness ever... but it will still leave you with a sour taste in your mouth.

Get out now and let people know how he deals with people. Just not cool. :thumbsdown

Screw the Prowse. For $4000 and the lousy attitude he's had, you should get the Disney you paid for.
He got the $4000 he wanted.
Laffo.

Mike Hill is going to be at the "MONSTERPALOOZA" in Burbank CA
in May 29-31 2009 if it was my money that he robbed i'd show
up to make sure he had a wonderful weekend.

Well, I got a promising e-mail from Mike this week:

"Hi Steve

Update,we plan on starting the Prowse filming tuesday next week depending on my DP's scedule."

We'll see.

wow . just wow . this thread obviously got his attention ,and what do you do ?. nothing . well i guess thats one way to go ,, best of luck .

:eek$4K....five years!!! I'd show up to the 'Con in Burbank stated above with a few buddies and get my money back!!! Forget about the new sculpture!

I am sorry to hear about your ordeal GH. $4K is way too much to continue to remain civil. My advice is go to the police, explain the whole thing, provide proof of payment, correspondence, etc., build a case and go to the Burbank 'Con with them. Give him a hard time. I don't know whether you believe you got his attention via the RPF or you are way too nice. The fact that he sent an e-mail a month ago telling you he is about to start and a month after that to repeat the same thing depending on his DP's schedule...what?!%$. That would be so infuriating to me it would mean the end of the story. Forget the sculpture. Destroy his reputation and his market. Promises after 4.5 yrs mean nothing!

Nobody has any connections to Disney? Maybe it is possible to get into the cryo, ah, I mean... basement at Disneyland, and make a mold of the frozen head?

If you still feel this guy deserves a chance, you need a date - in writing - that he will be finished by. If he doesnt want to commit to that, then just give you a refund. I would say since he has stayed in communication with you and continued to acknowledge having your money and making promises, that you certainly have the legal upperhand.

That all being said, probably for less than a quarter of what you are paying this guy, you could get exactly what you wanted in the beginning from any of the very talented members here...

While I can understand people wanting to go to this thing to scare the guy into giving you your money back, I just can't see any good coming from that. Bringing a bunch of friends or even yourself to scare the guy into giving you your money back just doesn't seem like a good idea, although I can see where you guys are coming from. All it says to me is assault or harassment.

Going there and speaking with him professionally seems like a better option in my opinion.

He'll probably just be a typical jaw-jacker, but if that doesn't work I'd start looking at your legal options. Just my take though, I could be wrong. :unsure

Ok, apparently Mike has seen this thread now. Let's hold off on comments until I can update you guys again. Thanks.

Funny how after six pages of comments the overall purpose seems to have finally worked!:lol

Hope you get it resolved and would love to see the final product! :confused

Just wondering....was there a conclusion to this? I hope it was a positive one. I myself was screwed out of $2500 from someone with the same MO as this lowlife so I feel for him. I just hope you got your money back because anything this guy made for you now is just going to remind you of him and all the headache he caused. Takes the fun outa owning it.
If you have no legal recourse I'd chase this guy nonstop and keep him from making a living off anymore victims. When word gets out and no one will hire him to sculpt even a toothpick then he might just find out that $4000 he screwed you out of will cost him tenfold in lost income.

Great post. My sentiments exactly. :thumbsup
