Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.....SPACEMARINE

Thanks for the update! I'm loving the details on your pauldrons and greaves! Any pictures of the helmet? (Or did I just miss it somewhere..?)

Opps ! Sorry I thought I had a pic up of the helmet.

Here you go.

This is as far as I've gone with the helmet. I'm in two minds weather to add horns and give it the classic Chaos look or go with the description in the novels that have the helmet as it is now but with a skull painted over the faceplate.

:cool

Looks great! Why not go with a pair of bat-like wings? Otherwise, I vote for horns!

I'm not a fan of the bat wings on the mini's...so no, not wings.

But the more I think about the horns I'm starting to like the idea.

Anyways..here a few pics of a test wear, to make sure it still wearable and workable.

A few little issues were found, easy fixes.

Till next time. :cool

This is one of the better Marines I have seen, The proportions are pretty close to the minis.

What did you use to seal the foam? Great idea to skin it with the foam.

How mobile are you in there?

Re: My 1st attempt at a Pep costume.

Hey all, I'm still at it, albeit very, very slowly.

Ok...where I'm at ? Well I have about 3/4 of the armour pieces fibreglassed, I haven't had any time at all to finish glassing the remaining parts. :( Hopefully once the whole X-mas thing is out of the way I should be able to find a weekend or two to finish the glassing stage.

Meanwhile I have been thinking to myself "how the hell am I going to bog all this ?"

1. It's going to take a crap load of bog due to the size of the polygons in the pep. And 2. I ****in' hate sanding bog........with a passion!!!!!!

So I thought "why not skin it with something". Now what to use, well after reading a few of the foam builds it dawned on me....FOAM.

Found some 5mm thick foam at the local hardware store and some 2 and 3mm foam at a art store and away I went.

Started with the thighs.

The upper arm pieces.

A fore arm piece.

And started on one of the boots.

The ends of each piece still need to be skinned but I need to work out how to web all the parts up yet, I may have to cut the ends yet to web it all together.

I'm pretty happy with "skinning" it this way, like I said I hate bogging and sanding with a passion and I think I have more of a chance finishing this costume using this method.

Ah well till next time.............

this was genius you clever *******!! =D

Truly an amazing build... Don't really care for the dragon wings on the chest, but that's just my personal preference. :3 Keep it up! Everyone's gonna love you when you take it out in public!
