Was wondering if there are recommendations for a Prowse size Vader suit maker? Doesn't have to be leather.

I've seen a few makers on Etsy but their sizing is a little vague. I intend on using a 6' 4" mannequinn.

Thanks!

If you haven’t bought the mannequin yet,

Has a lot of great athlete mannequins, you may find one even taller than 6’4”

I know I toyed with the idea of making a vader for my brother.

A lot of people in the vader community has used fenix, they send you a order form asking for all your measurments

Another option would be www.custom-props.com ... Claudio Oliver and his team are quite accommodating to custom made one-offs . . . read their 'About us' page i.e. for his endeavour making an entire ROTJ Reveal Helmet Costume which his client won 1st Prize with at STAR WARS Celebration VI in Florida ;)

Custom Props and Fenix Props are associates from the same area in Argentina. Fenix Props originally worked for Custom Props before he went out on his own although they calibrate together frequently.

I believe their capes and suit patters are the same, and they get their leather from the same supplier.

That’s good to know, thanks for sharing ;)

Prowse was 6'6".

Hello,
I would like to create a Darth Vader because I'm the right height. My Vader should be a Rotj Version. After a long search, I found Fenixprops, who make good jumpsuits, but I don't know if a one-, two-, or three-piece suit would be a better choice. Can anyone help me?
Thanks!

The original Vader costume featured a 3 piece suit for ease of dressing and maximum mobility.

The trousers were separate and held up with suspenders. As a separate piece David Prowse could have the top half of the costume removed between shots for comfort or to use the restroom and still have pants on.

The second piece was a top that had the leather sleeves but the torso section was fabric. I believe it was fastened in the back. The last/third piece is the leather ‘shirt’ that is sleeveless and goes over the sleeved shirt. With the shirt leather and the sleeve leather as separate pieces you can move your arms pretty freely and the front of the costume top stays flat and does not move very much, really allowing for dynamic arm movement without disturbing the main front part of the costume.

If you want maximum movement without disturbing your costume and ease of dressing the 3 piece is a good way to go.

If you want easy dressing in your costume and you aren’t planning on any 20min choreographed lightsaber fights the 2 piece is a good way to go.

I have the 1 piece and while it is a little bit fun to dress myself with the zipper in the back doing all the things I do when I wear it to Cons or other events it’s always been fine since what I’m mostly doing is walking, force choking people, making static poses with hands and lightsabers, and taking hundreds of photos with fans just standing like Vader with my hands on my belt buckle.

Thanks for the quick reply. I also read somewhere that a three-piece suit was used in EP 6. I imagine a one-piece suit would be like a diving suit: awkward to get into and problems with the back zipper. But the one-piece suit should be sufficient for me, since I only pose and walk around at cons. The back is covered in mesh net which is certainly refreshing.

Thor84 and DarkHelmet ... search for the 501stsithlords.com more specifically the Sith Lord Detachment Forum ... become a member and make at least 1 post i.e introduction ... this will give you access to Watto's Junkyard where new and used DV costume parts are being offered up for sale and where you can also buy commissioned Darth Vader costume parts i.e. gloves, belt + buckle + belt-boxes etcetera ;)
