Retro / Steampunk Raygun project WIP

Yup, you're right, I forgot to refer back to that art. :love Which rocks.

Whatever direction you go in, I think the current brass/copper with wood look you have going is the bees knees. :cool

I think it needs only a dark wash or some patina effect... If you really want to paint something on it:D
Awesome work!;)

Well the thing is that I was never intending to leave it as brass, wood and copper, so as a result I didn't bother to cover up any cosmetic imperfections which would naturally be hidden by the paint.
For example the rivets on the body are white styrene rods, there are silver screws on the handle, the silver trigger guard and trigger, and exposed epoxy, holes on the body which were filled with epoxy etc.

These types of mixed elements (as small as they may be) give the gun a sloppy "made from junk' look which Im not too fond of. I want it to look like it came from a manufacturer (although still weathered.)

I dunno, I still have some sanding and cleaning up to do on it so that will give me time to think about it.

What a work of art! Who woulda thought candle holders and lamp parts could be made into one helluva awesome Steampunk Raygun!!

Great, great job! Thank you for not only the inspiration to create, but the pics, step by step pics! Killer score on the plastic test tube! I couldn't figure out what to use, and how simple! Sometimes the most simple things are overlooked.

Beautiful piece, I can't wait to see the finished product! (y)thumbsup
