Richard's 2013 Version Of A Marty McFly Clothing Costume

I know there is an older thread to show off our "Marty" costumes. Mine isn't complete and I don't have pictures yet. If the mods feel this needs to be merged, not a problem.

I had been thinking this year towards the end of summer maybe it was time (yeah) to put together my version of Marty's 1985 outfit. I explain this more in detail on my personal collecting blog what my idea has been. Basically it isn't 1985, we can't exactly buy the same clothing, I'm not Michael J. Fox in 1985, and the technology has changed. I've had this idea since 2006/2007. When I had explained it on the BTTF forums, I don't think fans were quite with me.

Six years later I still have most of those ideas in mind. When I'm finished, it'll resemble more of Marty's outfit that Friday. With an updated style along with clothing too that reflects what I like.

After probably reading most threads on RPF and BTTF about the screen used clothing last month I started by buying a checkered patten shirt, the maroon/dark red t-shirt, a "puffy" vest that isn't burnt orange. It isn't orange and it isn't red. I also bought the mirrored aviator glasses. Just today I bought an Art In Revolution pin, a guitar pin I like, and for the "boomerang" pin, a "Fox" pin from Michael J. Fox's, Fox Foundation. A member on BTTF suggested it as an alternative. I liked the idea. Certainly not required I also bought a pack of guitar pics I like. I don't play guitar, ;) figured I could put one in a jacket pocket. Never know, Marty might have had one on him.

The biggest items I still need are a denim jacket and new sneakers. I wasn't exactly looking, I found a Guess jacket I like. If it isn't by Guess, it would probably be a jacket from Levi. Either way I'd have to order one of those on-line. I may go shopping this weekend in part to see if I can find a denim jacket that is reasonably priced.

With the sneakers I do really like Nikes, didn't find the Cortez back in 2006/07 comfortable. I know there are variations on the Bruins style and have found sites that sell them. As I do need new everyday sneakers anyway I might just buy something (most likely from Nike) I like first. At some point I could always buy a Bruins alternative.

Although I could use a new pair of jeans, if I want one for the "Marty" look I have a pair that should work.

At some point I might buy a new back pack that resembles Marty's. I don't ride a skateboard, I might buy one. As someone who has drawn and painted, I can appreciate the artwork on a skateboard deck.

Most of what I wrote about here I've written about in detail on my personal collecting blog site, Rich Collectibles. If you're interested, you can read and follow along there. I can keep this thread updated too.

I received all my pins for the denim jacket this week. The last two came today. I spent a good couple of hours writing about them (with pictures included) on my blog, Rich Collectibles. Here is the link to the blog entry, Back To The Near Pinheads.

In other clothing costume news I continue to scour the internet for a denim jacket I like. I didn't get a chance to go shopping last weekend like I thought I originally would. Before I order on-line, I'd like to see what's currently in stores.

I'm also working on my new Ghostbusters costume (for another thread) and may end up waiting to buy the jacket.

This past weekend I saw that Guess jacket I liked on-line was on sale. I bought it on eBay through Guess outlet store. It shipped yesterday and I'm expected to have it on Monday, October 21, 2013. Good thing too. :cool If I just wait two more years and end up in Hill Valley, I can buy the original Guess from "Blast From The Past" :p

Yesterday I wrote about the light wash Guess jacket on my blog, Rich Collectibles. I still won't have Bruins or any new pair of Nikes, back pack, or skateboard. I'll have enough of the "costume" I can finally take pics.

I received the Guess jacket this afternoon I ordered on Columbus Day. The good thing is I like the jacket. The bad thing is it fits like a slim. A slim 2XL seems like an oxymoron. I'm still going to keep the jacket as I don't think Guess has a bigger size, I don't want a hassle in returning it, "Marty" wore it mostly open, and I know the jacket can fit better.

I took some "test" pictures. When the outfit is more complete a friend of mine will probably take complete pictures.
