ROTS Vader Helmet

I actually like it. The only thing I never understood was the neck.

Is it different than the OT? Yes, and ESB is different than ANH. RotJ is slightly different that ESB... and the stunt helmet also had different proportions than the others.

Ummm... because Vader's helmet was never meant to be two tone. It was always supposed to be all black, it just wouldn't show up very well on film. So they painted it so it would show up better. However, it was never intended to look two tone... and most people couldn't even tell you that it was.

By the time RotS was filmed, they were able to film it in all black... I guess they still had problems and it had to be at exact angles and lit just so in order for it to show up.

Wrong! The reason Darth Vaders' helmet was painted gunmetal was because of light glare. This was done to make it look like it was reflecting light without being washed out in the studio lights as opposed to having a high gloss finish that reflected everything around it including the film crew! If you watch the original starwars, most of Vaders' scenes were from the right because the way his helmet was painted so irregularly. Vader also had MANY helmets made for ESB as there were many scenes requiring a stunt double, and these were in case a scratch, break,or being crushed - they could be replaced immidiately on set! These were all cast from fiberglass. The shape of Vaders' helmet had nothing to do with production cost, but this was made this way to conform to BOTH David Prowses' 6'4" frame,as well as what Ralph Mcquarrie had invisioned, and what George Lucas had approved!

Actually, the gunmetal had nothing to do with reflections. It had to do with being able to see definition/shape of the face within his black silhouette.

They handled the reflection issue with dulling spray, just like on 3po.
That is why in some scenes vader's helmet looks super glossy, and others it looks dull. Dulling spray wipes off.

When the vader on the right saw the vader on the left, he peed in his leather pants.

The ROTS vader looks like some dorky fan at a convention.

And how much weight or muscle does a person put on between the ages of 20 and 45.

Again makes perfect sense.

According to the OT, vader's "freakish size" (muscle & height) was due to him being more machine than man.

Not because he drank protein shakes.

.

Where in the OT does it say that?

Makes more sense that as his body grew his mechanical parts and other equipment would be upgraded.

Christensen was simply not athletical enough playing this part during the time for a suited Vader. He looks laughable skinny in his costume and totally different in comparison to the Vaders we know from the OT episodes. And i dont like the idea of a benchpressing Vader to get more and better shape:lol

I think Ben Kenobi made a statement like this..."more machine than man". That would imply that he would have been the same muscular guy from the beginning .....like we know him since his first appearance on the Tantive IV.

That comment is made in ROTJ. In fact there is NO mention of him being mechanical at all until then. Plus okay from his first appearance he looks Prowse size.

Makes perfect sense that 25 years earlier he is smaller.

Thanks for info Mac......forgot this. Should look the movies again:lol
But i still think he shouldnt be so much smaller.

I think they mention his freakish size having to do with his cybernetics in the SW novel, although the "more machine now than man" was first uttered in ROTJ.

And that would mean that he should have this strong built look from the beginning of his "career" in the suit.

That makes no sense what so ever. Your 20 year old body is not going to be the same.

Assuming the mechanical parts would be stronger than a normal person, it also makes perfect sense that his body would compensate to try and come up to the task and increase in strength and bulk.

The reality of course is that they simply didn't care, Hayden wanted to be in the suit and Dave Prowse was a big mouth during the making of the OT and Lucas didn't trust him anymore.

Want to blame some one blame Prowse.

Don't most people stop growing by the time they reach 20.

PS, I can't believe I'm participating in this dorkery, so when this is over, lets not ever speak about it again.

Prowse was too old and not in the required physical shape regardless.

However, you could put Hayden in one of my suits and with a bit of padding here and there he would look GREAT. Ok, not great but pretty good.

Nothing could ever top a 6'5" 250lb bodybuilder in the suit though.

I'd like to one day get someone with the correct physical proportions to get dressed up in my suits for something. Some show, or some pics. Would be cool.
