I also think there should be some kind of "good sportmanship" rule where disrespecting any other entrant is grounds for disqualification. Is there any reason to be mentioning the other entrants at all, good, bad or indifferent, while you're asking for votes and promoting the site?

Looks like not a lot of people got any love for their costumes. I think that might also go and show that the costumes are popular because they're current in the minds of people. We also know that some costumes will get more attention due to star trek and star wars fans (just as an example).
