I am not too familiar with your shop, but where do I get the coat at? Sorry for the hassle, also Rutger coat would be phenomenal! I wish you luck!
I got a purchase option question if you guys don't mind me asking. I've been reading this forum for nearly 2 weeks going all the way back to like 2018-19 to the point it got me invested in accuracy when originally I didn't care too much haha. So I recently ordered a SR and refunded it, because being 5'4 can only get me this far in enjoyment and sadly can't get clothes I like. The sleeves were like 1 1/2 inches longer (25) and they said it'll be looser fit when I want regular and got to get a tailor to fit it properly, so I decided to refund it. Now I am back where I am, so to open my mind more with much knowledge from you guys especially to those who have the jackets I am now deciding to ask, which seller is better? Zlurpo, WSL, Magnoli? Since they're the only ones I know also more popular.
I am not looking too far into accuracy, (I liked the vibe SR gave) however I do like the collar being accurate for it looks better (thanks Mechansimo haha) and that shiny look it gives to make it look like leather (which yeah I can wax myself, but I have no experience and scared). Also I am looking more of a practical coat, not a cosplay.
So which looks and is better with practicality? Or maybe even another option, to go for SR again, save money, then tailor it. I know these 3 seller options got tailor options in already, but SR material just looks top tier despite the view of the shearling on this forum hehe. Zlurpo catches my attention the most, but I need to know how practical and real it looks. I just wanna see all views of it since it is the internet. I appreciate you guys with all this, amazing community right here!
I also am getting an Indiana Jones jacket from Steele and Jones to upgrade from my fake leather Levi's. So this coat and forum got me back in the loop of researching which I am thankful for this forum and you guys! Plus it saves me from adding 30+ more tabs on my computer

Question, as of now does the Etsy shop sell the more updated and improved BR coat? Or is there a delay for when that version comes?
He coudn't update new coat images, because coat sample was big size.
However, you can place your order at Etsy store, and leave message about fabric.
Understandable. Also absolute beauty, appreciate it my man! I guess this already answered my other question haha.

Ahoy there, everyone!
So, after two seasons, I finally got around to taking my K coat into the tailor to get its fairly matted shearling replaced.
I did not use the Uniqlo shearling (which looks excellent, btw) since I had some material left over from my original shearling: ‘Golden Rabbit’ camel sherpa fleece.
However, this time around I did ask the tailor to include buckram in the collar section. And let me just say -wow- what a difference. The collar now has that added SA rigidness. Previously, I found myself having to regularly prop it up manually to get it to sit around the shoulders correctly. This structural aspect is also especially central for for the “collar up” look, IMO.
This new tailor I sourced in my neighborhood took forever and a day, his workshop looks like a bomb hit but, in the end, he did a terrific job and only charged me 40 euros to boot.

Wait, I'm confused...is this replacement shearling from the Uniqlo coat or your AliExpress fleece? Either way, it looks great!

No, it's the same AliExpress fleece I had on it previously. Back in the day, I had bought enough material for two replacements. That's why I didn't pursue the Uniqlo option. Next time, however, I'll have to source something along the lines of that Uniqlo teddy coat, no doubt.

I found a tailor and a shoe cobbler to do some adjustments on various suits/shoes I was wearing and, while the wait was beyond "reasonable" (they always gave me some kind of excuses) their workshops were incredibly messy! But their workmanship was incredible and the prices ridiculously low...you just have to be patient

I actually have a few pairs of the rag and bone chinos in army green and in the fit 2 style. In those two photos i'm actually wearing a pair of walmart slim fit chinos in olive green though haha. But i am wearing the theory aster sweater, managed to find one for 35 bucks on poshmark after months of searching everyday multiple times a day.

Hi all, just a quick note to say that I touched base with Kall regarding their updated Officer K coat and, according to him, they worked through a prototype but decided it wasn't quite there yet. Suffice to say, it's in the works. Fingers crossed that we'll see it soon!

Steele and Jones! Good choice, TeaPanda. The whole process they have devised should get you a superb Indy jacket. I am very happy with mine.
As for your dilemma with the coat (SR or BigEffectProps / Zlurpo), I think there is no wrong choice here.
Go with Zlurpo to get it custom made for your size (the coated cotton option looks best IMHO). The less troublesome route.
Or go with SR and get the material and craftsmanship you already know. The REAL problem then is finding a good tailor. But since you need to get it customized anyway for your build to get a perfect fit, you could order one size up and thus give your tailor the options to not only modify the collar position and size of the lapels but also to work in the funnel shape of the collar. A tailor can always cut away surplus material, never add. This route will cost you lots of money and patience, though, because it means your tailor has to take the coat completely apart and reassemble it, a much more drastic customization than the ones presented here.

I just wanted to post a couple of side-by-side comparison shots with my updated collar. As I posted recently, I got my original custom shearling replaced after two years of wear but, crucially, this time, I added buckram.
Finally having had a couple days to actually break it in, I wanted to express what a difference the buckram makes in terms of structure. It really provides that stiff, ‘bulging’ effect you see in many scenes in the film as I hope these photos convey.
In light of this this new element, it's also nice to see how the custom collar specs appear to be fairly close to the mark.

Excuse my ignorance and potentially dumb question but what is Buckram and how is it applied to the collar?

So, essentially, buckram is a thin piece of cloth that’s placed between layers of fabric and lining to provide a sturdier, stiffer structure. It hardens when you apply/adhere it with an iron.
It’s important to note that, in this case, the tailor applied the buckram only to the back of the shearling piece itself, (i.e. not the main cotton fabric of the collar). Simply put, it means that when I replace the shearling in the future, they’ll have to, once again, apply buckram to whatever shearling I provide them with. Otherwise, the collar will just revert to the floppier version I had previously.
Incidentally, I only added buckram to the collar, not the lapels. The lapels are just fine with only the shearling.
