Ryan Gosling 'K' - Blade Runner 2049!

Just to confirm, Jameel is the lead of all the manufacturing projects I've done recently, and he's been making movie replica pieces longer than that.

We don't have a waxing service available for out coats, but there is a pre-waxed canvas available in black.

It was nearest original color but, might be you are seeing color off due to phone camera picture.

Not sure why you're featuring a photo of the buckle... I wasn't asking about that (but the stitching looks very solid, incidentally)
So, again, are these two pictured shearlings below the same one (with the one on the right being dyed)? Or are they two different shearlings?
The reason I ask is because the one on the left looks good in terms of texture, drape but in the other picture, the shearling looks off.
The movie shearling has a definite direction to it, especially on the lapels. This is not the case with that picture on the right.

Acutely, there are some waxed fabrics available in some country specially in China but I couldn't found in my city.
So I'm just using cotton canvas fabric.
Besides, there is waxed process too, that always do after completing coat.

Here is our new fur image, I'll dye in camel color.

Ah, ok! Thanks for clarifying. Then yes, the texture of that shearling looks correct.
Looking forward to seeing it after its dyed.

johncarbon1991, pending Shahrooz 's feedback, if you have a good tailor lined up and have sourced the proper single sided sherpa shearling, I suggest by all means, go for it. That said, I decided to do some general side-by-side comparison shots, and this one shows just how thin the movie coat’s shearling really is.

This other photo comparison also shows how proper SA ‘piping’ (or piping effect?) around the length of the collar, lapels and coat opening is really something coat providers should really make a priority. It really highlights the contours and looks solid . As pictured, this is sorely lacking on my WSL (and unfortunately, SR hasn’t really succeeded in this area either). This is something I’ve brought up with Zlurpo and hopefully will be incorporated into his coat going forward.

As you can see, puffy look only on top of lapel side, but inside lapel is flat now.
It won't be possible for us to make both sides puffy "piping" look.

Well, it's a pity not getting this 100% right because, quite clearly, that piping effect is running down the entire length of the lapel and beyond...

Then I have to reverse it, inside lapel would be puffy and front top would be flat, till the lapel turning point.
That's an interesting point... Now that I look at it, the coat's LEFT lapel's top edge does not appear to have piping (or a piping effect), but you can easily see that starting at its corner edge, there's is clear piping going down that edge.

In any event, the movie coat's lapel and collar edges have distinct, robust stitching and it would be great to see this. Having said that, congratulations because your stitching and overall craftmanship is looking phenomenal Jameel Ur . The coat's construction looks very solid.

Thanks, actually it's been happened with your help.
To be honestly, I didn't want to change but seeing your (all members) efforts I changed my mind and fixed those errors.
I'm working on my own projects those are related to replica leather jackets with help of Zlurpo so you can follow me on RPF and facebook.

Stay in touch,

Mechanismo - I wonder if there's a misunderstanding of terminology here... Jameel Ur can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought when he mentioned the "top" of the lapel, he was referring to one flat side of the lapel fabric rather than the uppermost edge of the lapel (as I believe you've interpreted it). My interpretation solidified when he mentioned that the "inside lapel would be puffy and front top would be flat, till the lapel turning point" - I read this as meaning "the side of the lapel that has the shearling would also have the puffy piping, so you would see the piping until the lapel folds over and you're seeing the other side of the fabric"

I might be completely wrong, though!

Ah! Good catch. You're totally right! And that's a very important distinction to make. Thanks for that.
Then yes, I would say the piping (or piping effect) should be visible on the edges that are facing outward when the lapels are folded open, that is to say, along the edges of the shearling side. But like I say, heavy-duty, robust stitching should help give this impression regardless.

Hi,
The piping will go lapel corner to fold/ turn point then from that point to front bottom.
Please check them out I mentioned in my images.

No such luck with a good tailor near me. I was hoping to potentially use Shahrooz 's tailor, but I'm waiting to see the final kinks get fixed with the shearling.
Honestly at what the final price likely will be for the numerous SR alterations, I'd just as soon consider selling my SR coat and buying the updated one from Zlurpo and Jameel Ur (whenever the final updated version is available--not sure when that will be?). At this point, they seem to be the only coat manufacturer interested in accuracy. The only thing holding me back is the coat finish. I don't want to go through the hassle of waxing a coat myself (I've done it before, I did not enjoy it haha). That, plus the waxed finish isn't as accurate as the acrylic coating SR uses, and it would have to be reapplied regularly.

Given the interest in a proper coat, I wonder if it'd be possible for Zlurpo to get a run of new fabric, or to get the fabric pre-treated overseas (possibly the same place SR sources theirs in China) for a final updated coat. If it'd be an issue of cost I'd float crowdfunding the idea or as a pre-order deposit on the new coat. I know I'd certainly be interested in contributing.

I would definitely check with Shahrooz because his tailor took a lot of liberties (like sealing/stitching half the left lapel to the collar for no reason. I think he’s sorting this and other issues out with him currently).

Just some thoughts regarding what you’re bringing up about the coat’s fabric. I know how much SR owners attest to how terrific the material is, its sheen, texture, finish. Not being an SR owner myself, I have to agree it looks really nice. However… just going on the Officer K prop display alone, the coat itself (which looks quite distressed and was probably screen used) does not look ‘leathery’ in texture and is quite devoid of any sheen... In fact, it looks quite matte in its finish. With that said, I think Zurlpo’s coat is very close in terms of the cotton fabric texture/weave. Now, quite clearly, the coat in the film does have sheen to it in in most scenes, but I’m just pointing out how the prop display photos provide quite a lot of visual information that can sometimes be overlooked. IMO, I’d say Zurplo/Jameel’s fabric/stitching/piping looks pretty spot on. Their improvements (and crucially they’re predisposition to address and amend previous inconsistencies) will end up producing the most SA coat that's currently available.

Regarding the waxing process… agreed, it’s a royal pain in the butt, but I’ve said in previous posts, it really gives the coat more weight, grit and character IMO. I’d love to see the full effect on Zurlpo’s coat (double coating, like mine) and, absolutely, also see the SR-style acrylic treatment if anyone can swing that post-sale, perhaps?
