Rylo Sandman flame gun

Thank you so much, Apollo! You guys really are THE BEST!!!

Apologies to the OP JediDunn for the slight hijack; but I really enjoyed hearing from everyone here and in messages. :)

I was able to flatten two sides of the double-threaded brass connector with the two o-rings and the gas tube with my dremel, and then I was able to use a box wrench to break it free from the firing chamber. My calcium carbide was still in good shape, not sure why, and so I did a test fire after cleaning the filter and so far so good, no leaks for me, but I will continue watching this thread for more info and insight. Best of luck to you, JediDunn!

Cheers!

Holy crap! Cliff, I thought you abandoned us! Are you going to Phillip’s property party this year?

Hola Armando! I could never do that! No sir, not this time - but I would love to in the future again. :)

Here's a pic of us, back in the day, at Evan's prop party:

I have a memory at a convention in San Diego, I can't recall which one I was probably a tween or something, pretty sure it was at the El Cortez hotel but I don't think it was Comic Con. I want to say 1978 or something? Some dude came in in Sandman costume into the dealers room and pointed a working flame gun towards the ceiling and fired it. He was swarmed quickly by the curious. Wonder what the deal was on him? How many working flame guns were around then? Can't imagine there were working replicas at that time. Or something similar anyways, I didn't get a good look. Could it have been a studio prop and some insider decided to risk getting in trouble? LOL The TV series had been recent.

Sounds like Bill Blake

He was running around at that time with a Studio Flame gun

I got one from way back and it's amazing work. As a kid I was so fascinated with that prop I built my own out of wood. It was awful but my imagination filled in the rest. So many retired runners later.... I grew up and found Rylo and splurged myself into a nerdy happy stupor.
