ST:TOS phaser - velcro to attach to belt??

For years I used a strip of black elastic fabric -the stuff used on your underwear- stitched flat onto my Trek costume pants. I then slid the grip through this to hold my phaser in place. When the phaser wasn't used, the black elastic blended with my pants and was never noticed. This worked great with the darker colored grip. For the black phaser with the white grip, I had made the utility belt as seen in the first season and used white elastic fabric, although it didn't blend so well with the gold colored fabic of the utility belt, it was better than standing out so badly on my black trousers.

Nice, I've just been trolled... Anyroad... It's photographic proof... I heard someone talk about using magnets, an interesting idea anyway... It's not cannon! still a fun idea. I wonder would it mess with the laser?

Look up trolling.

Then look up necro-posting.

See which one applies in this case. :)

"A friend of mine recommended taking a length of ~1" wide black elastic, sewing a nice little tight loop on the thigh. That's what he does, and now, so do I.

It works pretty darn well, on the black handled phasers, at least. Keeps it very secure."

Guess that'll learn me to read the entire thread before posting.

Let me say this Feyth. Welcome to our community.

However, as in all communities there are societal rules of conduct. If one finds a five year old thread one doesn't treat it as if it is a few hours old. You might start off with something along the lines of "I know this is a very old thread, but I have a question". That would make necro-ing acceptable. You also necro'd in another thread that was three years old. Normally when a new member starts necro-ing it usually means they are trying to inflate their post count quickly. Fortunately I don't see that here, so it is figured that you just aren't quite up to speed yet.
When the established members call you out your poor form it is not trolling. But your skin will need to be a bit thicker. This board is filled with absolute experts in every field who are not afraid to give their opinion. When you put yourself out there expect feedback, good, bad, or indifferent. It also means that on these boards you will never ever be the top expert in any given subject, there is always someone who knows more.
This board is also filled with some of the kindest and most generous humans on the planet who take care of their own. That doesn't mean everything is free, but help is always a few clicks away on any subject known to man. They are not afraid to disagree, sometimes quite vociferously. I have disagreed with someone in one thread and lauded them in another.
I know only a half dozen people on this board personally, but I consider many of these people part of an extended family. I, and a great many others, have donated money, time, or tangible property to those we have never met outside of the boards simply because of the nature of this great big family.
Again, welcome to this odd family. Find a comfy place to sit and bask in the wealth of info this place offers but always remember to keep the elbows off of the table when eating.

Ahh, Forget it... I just learned something new, with the elastic idea. Which correct me if I'm wrong is what this forum is all about. I thought about going the magnet route, I wonder if that will damage the laser... I'm thinking of going the Velcro route... Because it's cannon and well no damage to the laser!

Well put, I can understand that! The last forum I was a part of, (in 2001) archived on a regular basis... There was no chance of posting in a five year old thread. Alas every board works different. It's been great to add what I know to some of these conversations. In others in which I have lurked, it was just as fun to be taken to school!

Thank you for the warm welcome!

David

Well, I'm really not all that concerned about this. Since I'm the friend that OB10 had been talking about.:$

And by the way, welcome aboard.
