I know this thread is a few years old but I am just getting around to building my own Delta comm and came across this nice build.
I haven't decided if I am going to weather it or not but I did decide to use flat head black screws on the back shell instead of gluing
the back shell on in case I need to get in there. I also am wondering if the odd notches in the hinge wheels was done for the This side of Paradise
episode where they put a rubber band in the comm to make it spring open when dropped. The ridges would have kept the bands in place on the
hinge wheel.
