Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

How did people get sucked out of the viewscreen in Uhura's hallucination? She didn't mention that it was odd to see people get sucked into a giant wall sized TV.

Or is that supposed to be a window with overlay capabilities and by Kirk's time, they removed it as dangerous to have in combat and replaced it with a much smaller viewscreen instead along with redoing the bridge to have so much improved combat shielding that the bridge's size was effectively cut in two?

Watching that trailer for season 3, I guess Ethan Peck is still sticking with pronouncing every "the" as "thee." I know it's a minor quibble, but I find it annoying. Nimoy didn't say "thee" all the time. Just seems like another example of misunderstanding the character, even if it is a small one.

Don’t get me wrong; I hold “Strange Generic Space Show” in extremely low regard.

But…

I do recall Nimoy stating (it may have been in The Making of Star Trek book) that Spock would have learned English as a second language, and more than likely, it would have been proper “British English” vs. “American English”. He would, therefore, have an occasional “affectation” in his speech on the show (very slight…not as bad as Madonna’s faux British accent) with soft “a’s” when he said such words as “Transporter” and he never used American slang / colloquialisms.

This was part of the brilliant performance by Nimoy that really only existed in The Original Series. By the time you got to the movies, he had dropped this “affectation” and spoke “American English”.

I think Peck may have done his homework on TOS Spock’s speech patterns and injected “thee” into the performance, noting the slight affectation, above. He may even have read The Making of Star Trek book…who knows?

Also, it is worth noting how T’Pau speaks to Spock in “Amok Time” with a lot of “thee” and “thou” used throughout the episode.

If y'all are happy with TOS, that's great, but without new content the franchise will whither and die. There have been several droughts in the long history of Star Trek and I for one, am happy for the new content. Discovery and Picard both had wild variations in the quality of writing and storytelling, but they both had absolutely brilliant moments, and I enjoyed them overall. In my opinion SNW is even better. The occasional goofy episode is offset by some truly incredible episodes like Ad Astra Per Aspera. And even the goofy episodes are FUN if you don't take yourself and Trek too seriously. I'd say for me, the overall quality of SNW is the best Trek has ever been. And I'll take Subspace Rhapsody or Those Old Scientists over Spock's Brain or Turnabout Intruder any day of the week.
Jules Verne isn't around anymore, yet his work is still around. ;)

The only time Kirk and Spock should be singing—and singing badly, I might add—should be when forced to do so by Greek aliens…

…or drunk around a campfire:

Kirk and Spock should have absolutely NO singing talent ;)
